Kathleen is lamest character so far. Didn't care about her or her story at all.

The actress portraying Kathleen is so unbelievably bad it almost ruined the episode for me.

Yeah the only difference was that in the game Ellie didn't find out beforehand that Sam was infected

They explain it in the post credits feature.

This show is 10/10, episodes dont miss. I thought episode 3 was filler but Ive warmed on it over time.

Kathleen is the biggest miss of the show

Kathleen sucks and hunters didn't feel as threatening as in the game.

Still a good episode.

I just wish they didn't try to humanize the hunters. They're pieces of shit in the game and not every baddie needs a heartbreaking backstory. Also, David is coming up and his story is fleshed out in the game.

So fucking glad Kathleen is dead. What an awful character. And not awful as in "I hate that bad guy they're so good at being bad" awful. Just straight up awful. Poorly done. There's no God damn reason why the hunters were blindly following her. She was worse than Negan. other than that, great ep.

I thought Kathleen was a fine character.

*Spoilers for the episode and both games*

She wasn't a leader. Everyone loved and followed her brother who was a pacifist nice guy. He died in custody. That was the catalyst of the rebellion and her connection to him made her the face to rally behind the injustice that happened. Her and her followers got riled up, lashed out violently and everything escalated from there.

She had no real control over anything. They were just going around killing people in anger. Even innocent people driving into the city. They were just anarchists lashing out after living under oppression for two decades and they only were in power 11 days because of it. The closest thing they had for a goal was finding and killing Henry who was directly blamed for his death.

Kathleen and the anarchists were focused on revenge and murder instead of rebuilding and healing and they paid the price for it.

What's interesting is that this overall ties into the themes of 2 a lot more than anything in 1. Like the constant foreshadowing we're getting for the choice Joel eventually makes we're also getting more foreshadowing for the choices Ellie ends up making.

So damn brutal. This show keeps delivering

Shes clearly there to mirror what happens in the second game. She lost someone then went overboard due to not being able to let it go.

That might be the best episode so far. With 1 and 2 being close.

Always liked Melanie Lynskey as an actress, she's been around for a long time, did a bunch of single episodes for a lot of popular shows like House. Haven't watched episode 5 yet but probably will tonight, so I skipped the spoils for now.

Well this episode made me enjoy Kathleen. What a vindictive piece of shit.

Not one to one

One is game accurate, one is the only major change from the game. One episode still heavily features eli and joel and the other does not

It's 1:1 enough.

Both episodes focus on a duo of side characters whose deaths leave a major impact on Joel and Ellie's relationship. The amount of screen time Joel and Ellie actually got between the episodes, or how game accurate things are, is immaterial.

Or rather, the main difference is that Henry and Sam's relationship needed to be something Joel and Ellie witnessed themselves, while Bill and Frank's was something only the audience had to witness.

Bill and Frank were fairly nondescript characters in the game. Ep 3 made me change my whole outlook on them after getting to see their decade-plus journey together, as opposed to Bill just being some guy Joel knows that can get him supplies.

I think it was filler and it was good. The 2 can be true. One of dragonball zs best episodes is piccolo and goku getting their license, idc

Anyways, any of the 5 episodes can be considered the best episode. This episode felt the most video gamey which isnt a bad thing (bloater boss, infected rush, autoaim headshots everywhere, henrys first bullet was a headshot)

If you think this is filler then every episode between the first two and last one will be considered filler.

I thought Henry was considerably more likeable in this show than in the game. I have only played parts of it, but my wife has played thru it all the way (with occasional help from me, like using an arrow for one of the traps before you meet Bill).

i liked henrys breakdown in game better where he's like This is your fault".

As to filler, i think a lot of people are gonna be real disappointed if they wanna call every episode filler if Joel and ellie aren't on screen for 90% of the episode. If you want to just see them walking around and looting stores, play the game. They are clearly building up for the divisive ending, showing people trying to make a life for themselves in this hellish world, slowly transforming Joel and Ellie. There's only 4 episodes left so it'll probably start coming together real soon

I don't know if I would describe Bill as non-descript. This could be because I liked the actor who played him in the game, Earl Brown, but I loved the part in the game he was in. He was a doomsday survivalist who was able to keep an entire city block under control from the zombies single-handedly. And throughout the chapter, he acts like this tough loner-type who is all about himself, but every time he mentions the "partner" who left him, you can see/hear him cracking.

They also never explicitly say what he and Joel did together, but it was more than just supplies, since Joel was cashing in a "huge" favor to get that car from him. So similar to Tommy, it likely involved a lot of killing.
