Over it! Self-driving cars can't be perfected and mandated soon enough. Dangerous drivers are a public health crisis at this point.

It's like people take driving etiquette and the rules of the road as an attack on their pride. They'd literally rather die than yield.

Dealing with city traffic every day has convinced me that getting my driver's license was the absolute worst decision I ever made for my blood pressure and stress.

Same here. These modern vehicles are so massive and overpowered that its not safe to drive a smaller, sensible car. They dont look at the road and everyone is constantly on the phone. We have had icy conditions recently and people will drive almost double the speed limit and get inches from my bumper.

Plus they get pissed off if you don't speed through the light the exact nanosecond it turns green just so you can get hit by the person who ran the red at 35 mph

Waiting two seconds to make sure the intersection is clear and safe is apparently the worst thing a driver can do to these people

I tried to follow the person in front of me past a slower car today and the dude behind me in a Chevy Suburban literally tried to undercut me and beat me to changing lanes. When he couldn't make it, he instead decided to almost sideswipe me in what looked like an insane attempt to scare both lanes into allowing him to create his own middle lane. When that didn't work, he rode the ass of the guy in front of him until that guy got over into a turning lane. Right past that turning lane was a merge due to road work. Instead of getting into open lane in the massive space behind me, he decided to gun it straight at a pile of cones and barriers, forcing the guy in front of me to slam on his brakes just so he wouldn't have to be involved in a horrific accident. These people are sociopaths, literally taking advantage of our petty human feelings for their selfish gain.

Car accident deaths may be down a lot over 50 years ago, but that's somewhat because of safety advances, which I think people have taken as a license to drive like maniacs. If street cars all had roll cages and six point harnesses, it would be a fucking video game on the road. That chart on Wiki did show though that 2021-22 are the most dangerous years since I've started driving. It certainly feels like the last 15ish years have seen a change for the worst on the road.

And you have to make sure it's clear because the idiots behind you would be the exact ones blasting through the red like other lanes don't exist. I wish I knew what goes through the minds of those people.

I also agree. the days where I communted to work and had to drive 1.5 hours was the worst days of my life. Not getting compensated for that time? Total garbage.

I miss it so much. I'd gladly deal with shitty drivers given the alternative

The best decision I ever made was getting rid of my car and moving to the city. I save so much on gas, parking, and maintenance

Morning commute had a guy weaving through traffic in a school zone.

Apparently traffic cops only catch you if you're going 80 in a 70 while cars blow by you going 90, or if you failed to signal on a country road at 2am.

You know what's cool? When traffic is backed up at an alternate merge and cars in one lane are deliberately tailgating to deny anyone a merge. Because the extra 10 feet they gained is totally worth it. Now they'll sit in traffic for 3 seconds less AND continue to assert their dominance on the road.

There's a lot to complain about when driving. Earlier I was stuck behind a truck and couldn't move lanes because of another driver.

However you're better of not ranting about it every day tbh, you'll drive yourself crazy

Yeah, I live in Los Angeles. The amount of moronic things I see during my daily commute is staggering. And because these drivers haven't gotten into an accident (yet), they think they are good drivers.

Yeah when Im on vacation in certain cities I usually leave my car where Im staying and Uber around because people are such bad drivers moreso in certain cities.

Car centric design is the biggest mistake of the century.

Its destructive, exploitative and a major driver of poverty and death.

Meh it's something that a lot of people can actually still agree on in this day and age. My seething is over by the time I share it with people IRL or here.

Honestly, of the many, many things that piss me off while driving I think people who refuse to turn on their fucking headlights piss me off the most. I don't care how well YOU see in the fucking dark, I need to be able to see your dumb ass so that you don't fucking wreck me.

I'm just lucky I moved somewhere where I no longer need a car.
