It's not on this level but it's like being on this board for a decade and saying "never even heard of Ace Attorney before."

Ace attorney had memes so it would get referenced even in topics that aren't relevant to it.
Trails just has play through topics

AA has been paraded around as B8's "mascot" game since basically the beginning, I've only even heard of y'all talking about Trails in the last few years and the exposure is still pretty much just "oh that JRPG I know nothing about". It's not mind-boggling!

never heard of it is mind-boggling if you've spent any significant amount of time on board 8

like I have no idea what danganronpa or umineko are but I have heard of them because of b8

icon spent a couple years buying the games for like eight people so they'd do playthrough topics of them

I just searched Trails of in the archive site and boy there is a ton of topics in here!

Board 8 has trained me to fly right by topic titles like these though. I always assumed this was one of those writing projects or some kind of board game and I almost never look at those. Never would have come to know there's a video game series there.

I don't think it's that surprising to have not heard of the Trails series for people who aren't big on jrpg's, and even then I knew of Trails in the Sky as an individual game for a lot longer than I knew that there was an entire series of games.
