Kinda odd to say it were men specifically lol but, yeah, exactly. So no, nothing wrong with eliminating it. It was unnecessary in the first place.

Yeah that's what I was asking. And well the gender neutral word that's actually official is -latino, and regarding the pronunciation it's also the easiest one.

Latino is a male term. Hence the existence of the word Latina which is female. With gender roles and terms being such a big deal now people complained about Latino not being inclusive enough.

Its like saying hey guys to a group of people that isnt all guys, people want to be included.

I try to educate people into using the progressive LatinX instead of the backwards Latino/Latina. Its to be inclusive of non-binary & transpeople. Disappointing when they refuse to switch, especially disappointing when theyre LatinX people. Like fine, go ahead and be transphobic.

Also this is yet another piece of legislation by Republicans in their pursuit of genociding transpeople.

Latin Americans have a gender inclusive term of their own, latine. It flows much more naturally in conversation--especially in their native languages.

As mentioned, Latine has beeen growing in popularity among the millenial (activist) and generation z crowd and denying that runs the risk of being a "old man shouting at clouds" type. The Latin America LGBTQIA+ communities have been seeking out a gender neutral pronoun of their own in order to escape masculine or feminine suffixes.

some people do actually write "amigx", "novix", etc as gender neutral of amigo, novio. Nobody says amigue or novie

With the way language/inclusivity works "Latino" as a catchall doesn't work anymore for many individuals because being outside "male" or "female" requires it's own gender differentials. So people know they are outside the binary system.

The battle right now is whether this word should be Latine or Latinx. The correct answer in this case is to support Latine.

Just the same as mexicanos, americanos, personas, amigos, muchachos, trabajadores, especialistas.
See? There are words (masculine, feminine, gender neutral) that are used as a general term to refer to people of any gender.

If "latine" was accepted you would have to change every word that has a feminine and masculine variation in spanish but it would literally not work for some, for example seor and seora. The plural for seora, is seoras. The plural for seor is seores. So how would you know if you're talking about a group of males or a group of any gender?

La persona is a feminine word. As a guy, I don't have issue with not feeling represented when I say "soy una persona" lol, it's just gramatically how it works.
I have never hear any male or non female person taking issue with that either.

The point is there a plenty of words that don't indicate which sepcific gender you are and that's okay.

My entire statement was for people who aren't sure if they should use Latinx or Latine to please use latine.

When it was under observation. It has since been removed but campaigns to fight for it's inclusion haven't stopped.

Again, isn't just Americans. There was an entire feminist protest in Spain about a language reform with multiple proposals on how to go about it. This isn't just an "American" thing.
