Most of the sitcoms I've seen tend to be too happy with most scenes being completely unrealistic. I can't act like Joey from friends and be like "how you doin?" Or I can't act like Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother and just randomly walk up to a girl and ask her out ever so casually. In the real world, people would probably be in contempt of me, without adhering to some type of social etiquette. So I kindly ask you guys, what is television show/movie that I can watch and take notes on?

I'm so friggen awkward these days, where people assume I'm just a mute. It doesn't help that I'm a generation older than most of my peers.

Idk...George from Seinfeld continuously scores chicks, but the show doesn't explain his process. Every few episodes there's suddenly a new girl.
Kramer getting away with so much doesn't seem at all realistic.

I dont even think Im joking. If you still have a hard time making friends at this point in your life then its time to go back to basics.

I'm not trying to make friends with kids....I'm a grown man close to his 40s now. I want to make friends with people in their 30s.

Thank you guys for the suggestions though. I shall take a look at some of those for nostalgic purposes.

Workaholics.

I'm in your same situation but I dont know if a real show actually exists that fits this criteria. Most shows don't really properly explain the mechanics of making a friend. And they just have people become friends to suit the story

But maybe I'm missing something.

Making friends is mostly just not letting awkwardness get to you or letting others tell you it's "cringe" or sucking up to show others appreciation.

You gotta not be scared to express your want to be friends. Don't be coy and just expect the other to do all the leg work. You don't gotta flat out say it, but don't shy away from things that feel like the next step in a friendship. Like, inviting someone somewhere. It's only as big of a step as you make it. If you act like it's no biggie, it's no biggie. And just like dating, you just gotta accept rejection as part of it until you find those right for you. It's ok to not click woth everyone

You really expect a sitcom to teach you how to get laid?

just gonna throw this shit out there, but MAYBE, just maybe, if you struggle to make friends the answer isn't "watch more fucking television"

Don't watch a show. Look up Charisma on Command on youtube, great to understand the ins and outs of socializing and human interactions.
