Five times. Twice due to economic circumstances, three times due to what you might call personality conflicts.

i guess once.

i got hired, and was told there would be a week long training for new hires, and they'll tell me to join once HR clears me.

except, HR decided to go on vacation that week.

so i waited and waited and eventually was told i was good to come in... the Friday of that week. so i had one day of training, which was mostly reflection on all the stuff they had learned, and i was thrown in.

i didn't know any of the policies, any of the methods they wanted, schedules, etc. but my boss would be like why didn't you do this. why didn't you do that. pissed me off. eventually i reminded her i had missed training and she was like okay come in and ill go over it with you. so i go to the meeting at her office and she never showed up. then later i see her and she was like oh yeah you never showed up to our meeting. UH NO YOU DIDNT SHOW UP.

people started quiting and she started moving me around. you get to lead 4th graders, no 1st grader, nevermind heres the 7th graders. this was all in the span of maybe 3 weeks.

at the same time, my friend said another school was looking for people for a similiar position so i interviewed and got the job. i was like do i bother giving 2 weeks? NAH and i just stopped showing up.

i got a couple messages/emails from higher ups saying im in big big trouble if i dont come in, and then got a letter saying i was fired for job abandonment.

my first sales gig out of school, i was solid for a year, but i was starting to get burnt out at that stage 1 of a sales career (the hardest part of a sales career by far).

i was ready for a promotion to the next sales guy step, but there werent any openings -- had to continue burning through, but my numbers were starting to slip while i was semi-distracted looking for other opportunities externally.

had a recruiter come to me as well during this process. however, i was eventually put on what they call a performance improvement plan. it basically means if you dont improve your number in the next month or two, you're out.

fortunately, i had basically already gotten the offer from the recruiter, so i just continued to kinda coast and eventually put in my two weeks once i got that all set up.

been at this job for over six years now.

so basically, i was on pace to get fired, but managed to beat the clock

Yes, technically twice. Though they called it a difference in direction. First job at Tim Hortons lasted 3 full days. I was an idiot kid not used to standing for long periods of time so I spent my breaks rubbing my feet. Apparently that's a big no no in Tims world. Even with me washing my hands every time afterwards.

The second was Mcdonalds. I had a hard time remembering temps for the burger fryer. To be fair, I had undiagnosed mental issues that made me forget to check things, so I was undercooking the meat. It was fair to let me go, and again, was my 2nd job.

My third job tried to fire me. And then I pulled a reverse Uno card on them. They had me working 29/30 days in a month. I made bank with that job, really made a lot for a security guard job. I would go and rent movies from Jumbo video (Canadas Blockbuster) and clear the shelves in about 4 months with how much money I was making. Watch the movies on a portable dvd player or my laptop. I was working the boonies as we called it (remote sites far away from civilization, where they would just put guards to, to cover their insurance claim).

Anyways, I got into a really bad mental state and started leaving work to hang out with friends (again I was like 19/20 at the time), they found out, tried to fire me, I chose to go to a psychiatrist instead, which apparently is an option where I live. I come back and my boss got shit canned for overworking all his workers. I ended up getting promoted to guarding a mental institution during night shifts, which was my favorite job until recently. It was great. I could continue to watch movies/play games during my shift, I didn't have to worry about patients because they were all under lock down in confined blocks under double sets of iron doors with their own team watching them. I was only there for property insurance, a 2 dollar raise and I got to work with some really great people. Still got let go from that area as I took a nap (sleep apnea undiagnosed) while my coworker was on his round. Never got fired from that job though. Place went to shit afterwards anyways, they halved the size of the security office, canned the entire security staff for a different security company.

Still not as funny as my friends friends brother. He went to work at a convenience store. On his first shift he was getting raving reviews, on his walk home he got a call telling him that they didn't need him anymore. That same store had a different friend quit because they raised minimum wage and refused to increase his pay, despite him working there 3 years, so he was getting paid as much as the new hires despite him being their "Supervisor". He gave them the middle finger and went to work for A&W.

Yes, because health leave stuff ended before it should have, I couldn't get back on it, and a manager I'd never met with no knowledge of what was going on scheduled me for a full time week (I was part time) that I had to call in for.

Just as well, because getting fired let me get back on my old free insurance.
