I have ADHD and low self esteem. I find starting something new INTENSELY difficult and something like drawing where progress is slow and the actual act of doing it can be monotonous and time consuming is a particular challenge.

I want to draw cute animesque women wearing cute outfits, animals/fantastical creatures, natural or dreamlike enviorments, action and horror. I kinda have a fascination with dreams and horror because I am so blessed and plagued with vivid dreams and anxiety/sleep issues. Insomnia, sleep walking, sleep paralysis, night terrors, etc. I have had it all many times.

I hate having so many ideas stuck in my head trapped. I hate feeling inadeqaute and stuck.

I could throw myself naked into a pit of extremely angry platypuses too. Would feel just as bad.

A.I is a toy. It is not a serious artistic tool. I enjoy it well enough but I recognize it is parasitic and incomplete as of now. I do not want to have it as a major tool I use nor to monetize it.

It will not express what I want or be as satisfying.

Thats some non advice if I ever heard it. Of course I have and to an extent I have but its kinda hard to find where to start and a presentation that actually works for me. Something a tad more specific would be nice like a couple people who have fairly comprehensive and well made tutorials.

Remember ADHD. If its not well organized, and well made I will bounce off it out of sheer boredom and being overwhelmed. And a bad tutorial wont do me much good even if I lap it up eagerly.

Not trying to be mean but that is just not really helpful. I do appreciate you posting.

An incomplete upper body drawing of a woman in a dress. A few visible eraser marks because my eraser is trash.

Used 2 seperate references with a faceless drawing of a girl from a tutorial as the base. A couple small touches like the belt were wholely my addition with zero referencing.

Might attempt a bit of shading for depth in a couple areas and touch up a couple areas.

Might take a stab at the arms and legs too.

Do you actually want some tutorials? Personally I prefer video tutorials. When the lesson is moving at its own pace, it's harder to skip ahead and ignore the info. I'm no expert, but I have enjoyed some of Drawfee's draw classes, mostly cuz I just like watching Drawfee's regular episodes. The videos are long, but they do switch between the artists' tips and demonstrations/experiments, so it's not like two straight hours of dry instruction.

Here's one about drawing animals and I think it touches on jumping off to creating fantasy creatures, too.

This one has some nice tips and strategies on anatomy that I thought were helpful. The body shapes in their demonstrations are mostly male forms, but it's a starting point at least. The artist has another video on anatomy on the channel, but I haven't watched it, so I don't know if it goes into female forms.

Again, I don't know nothing bout teaching art or nothing and I don't know if these'll work for you. I only suggest them because I like their main channel and think they're funny. I'm sure there are a million different drawing tutorial channels on YouTube though.

Also, if you just wanna force yourself to practice a bunch, you can try making a drawing request topic. There are always hungry requesters waiting around here, and no one is expecting the Mona Lisa. Well okay, the first drawing request I got when I started was the Mona Lisa, but the point is that no one cares how "good" your drawings are if you're insecure.

one important thing that got me drawing more was what i was using to draw. digital art- or rather, something you can draw right on and erase and correct and so on, was so much more accessible and easy to practice with than pencil and paper. no gritty feeling of paper, no sharpening, no erasing, no use of resources just to doodle. that was the difference-maker for me. i can't fucking stand eraser shavings and wiping and blowing and so on

Ooh yeah. Infinite erases with no hassle makes a world of difference. Plus depending on what you're using for digital art, you may have a whole host of other great tools at your disposal. It's not like you're pressing a button to generate art or instantly make your drawing better, but having more tools can really help you create the vision in your head.

I don't want to invest in a device for that until I improve enough to feel confident I will stick with it.

That's fair. I'm the same way about getting an actual drawing tablet lol. There are decent drawing programs on Switch, 3ds, and Wii U if you wanna invest only a little bit though. And the last time I checked, Amazon had some nice basic tablets for just like 40 bucks or so. If I had a computer that didn't suck, I'd be more tempted. Anyway, it's certainly fine to stick with what you have available while you're figuring out what you wanna do.
