My God.

The amount of drugs, cursing out, weapons, ridiculous policies, micromanagement, and sheer disrespect for the profession is almost unparalleled. Obviously, there are other consistently toxic work environments, like being a police officer or something like that, but when a parent calls me a "n-word hating c-word" because her daughter hasn't turned in a damn thing the whole semester, it's completely bonkers.

I would rather deal with shit managers or shitty co-workers any day. God, I need out of this profession.

Actively trying. But I take meds for my anxiety and other mental health issues, so I can't just leave without another job lined up.

Luckily, I'm in the process for a job I really want, and they made me the offer for the position last January and I had to say no because my dad and grandmother were dying of cancer and I wanted to spend more time with them and the job is in a different state. The recruiter reached out to me in November to see if I was still interested. But they're on a hiring freeze until January 9, so I'm still waiting, even though I re-interviewed November 14

Yeah I can imagine that being a teacher sucks. I don't know if toxic work environment is the right word for that though. That's usually when your coworkers or supervisors are toxic, right?

The admin team literally never stops by my room ever because the students talk about how much they love me. My student relationships are strong. Parents can rot in hell.

I'm a social worker. I once had to monitor a guy in his home by myself who had been up and high on meth for 7 days straight for about an hour while waiting for the cops to come get him (parole violation). Dude spent the entire time talking about killing people and exactly how to render and process them so they'd never be found (specifically, my bosses) and you basically just acknowledge what they say and reassure them you're there to protect their rights and hope to fuck they believe it. Broke my heart watching him get cuffed and taken away, he wasn't a bad guy at all when sober and on his meds.

But yeah teachers still have it worse for sure, no sarcasm
