Beef bulgogi with ground beef. I sauted shallots, garlic, green onions, fresh ginger and shredded carrots. Cooked the ground beef and added salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Added bulgogi sauce (pre packaged because I have to make it fast before toddler melts down). Topped with sesame seeds, sriracha and green onions. Fast, easy and tasty.

How the heck is this easy? It's too many ingredients, many are words I don't even know

It takes me less than 30 minutes to make. 5 minutes to chop the veggies and grate a bit of ginger (but you could use ginger powder to make it easier). Carrots are already pre shredded. You could sub an onion for shallot. Toss veggies to cook a few minutes, add ground beef and seasonings and cook through. Turn off heat and mix premade sauce. Rice in the instant pot. Add toppings. Thats it.

This is the sauce I buy from the grocery store:

actually, come to think of it, that pork marinade recipe is pretty similar to the sauce i use when i cook an Asian-inspired stir fry, just with the addition of the sweet chili sauce, which i've thought about adding before but never have. and also i use chili powder and crushed red pepper instead of the Gochujang and Gochugaru, which i gather from googling are roughly equivalent substitutes. and i use Rice Vineger instead of Apple Cider Vinegar. might try the ACV this time, along with the sweet chili sauce.

1. Chili powder pretty much works as a substitute for gochugaru since the latter kinda tastes like a milder (both in heat and flavor) version of the former with a tangy tomato flavor to it, but gochujang doesnt really have an equivalent. Its (arguably) the backbone of Korean cooking for a reason - its sweet/salty/peppery/alcoholic flavor is very distinguished. Its also the stickiest substance Ive ever cooked with, moreso than honey/molasses/etc., and if making a marinade with it I highly recommend it being the first ingredient you put into the bowl or misc vessel, followed by whatever will most effectively break it down (i.e. vinegar).
2. Yeah rice would be the best alternative to apple cider for vinegar in this instance - maybe the best vinegar period, even. I mainly used apple cider because that kind specifically is supposed to counteract the blood clotting risk associated with pork, plus pork + apple in general is a time-honored pairing.

Feel like it should be common enough to be in the international aisle of a grocery store

^that all looks really good! i didn't know turmeric cake was a thing. i would love to try it, but i don't think there are any Lebanese delis near where i live, damn.

This was my first time having it & my first impression is that it sorta reminds me of carrot cake, specifically the bites that dont have icing/raisins/shredded carrot. Nice, gentle dessert that probably wouldve been better if Id grabbed it around noon rather than just a few minutes before closing.

Making a beef stew in the instant pot i hope it taste okay lol.

Followed a recipe loosely since i was in a rush and didnt use exact measurements. Pretty sure i used over double the amount of meat the recipe asked for and the meat was a little sus already but i had so much i wanted to use. Also used some marinara sauce i had opened instead of can of tomato sauce. It asked for italian seasoning so i just sprinkled different italian type spices i had like basil, oregano, thyme, parsley all without measurin haha.
Used a sweet potato instead of regular potato and baby carrots i did not chop like it said.
Didnt measure any of the liquids so hope it's passable haha

Beef stew turned out pretty good. Ate it over rice. Beef was soft enough. Gravy was a little more sweet than expected and wanted it more savory but it was okay.

For any home cooks out there, should i invest in a fancy boos block cutting board or just try to get a more reasonable big cutting board.

About to move into a new house with a big island counter and want a big cutting board that will stay pretty much at all times flat on the island counter.
I know a boos block is pretty much the gold standard for cutting boards but was wondering if it was worth it.
