Yeah this was super obvious. Do most people even know that the post-credits tease for DC League of Superpets...was a Black Adam cameo? Also voiced by The Rock?

The Rock is more interested in establishing his own brand than actually being and starring in good movies. Like his DC plan was still always about him. He was bringing back Cavill so his Black Adam could fight him. Superhero universes aren't star driven. This isn't the WWE where The Rock is the main draw and people just want to see him fight other people.

The difference is that Arnold still managed to actually be in iconic roles. The Rock doesn't even have anything as memorable as Commando.

Something about The Rock just makes him feel more desperate compared to most other entrepreneurs. Like he is so focused on his brand over everything else. Even something like DC.

Ryan Reynolds is also one of those entrepreneur actors but I think he's doing a way better job at it. Probably because he makes it seem more fun or something.

Sounds like he's just trying to be a businessman, but not a very bright one. Finally managing to get a movie that was in development hell for longer than Duke Nukem Forever was off the ground probably gave him a feeling of entitlement to control the DCEU.

The Rock changed when he started his Seven Bucks Production company. They started releasing movies from 2017 with Baywatch.

Since then it has no longer been about him auditioning for roles or whatever. It has been about his production company making movies for him to push his brand and other products even further.

It explains basically everything about him. He is a brand to be sold. He's always shilling stuff like his energy drinks and tequila in conjunction with his movies.

He is often buddied up with Kevin Hart because he has a similar drive. They both want to be billionaires.

Gotta wonder if they want to be that rich just for the title or they really love money or they're in need of it.

Ah shit, it was a really great read. The jist is that Rock held a poll for his fans to vote for him to play Captain Marvel/Shazam or Black Adam, the fans choose Adam so that's what he went with. After that he started pretending to be a longtime fan of the Black Adam character, since he was a kid. Back then though, Black Adam would have only been in a couple of Captain Marvel/Shazam comics at best, and only in minor roles, so there's nothing to really be a huge enough Black Adam fan that would make a kid think of him as his favorite character.

Being funny, quick witted, and self-deprecating can go a long way. He's also not releasing 3 Deadpools a year like Dwayne does, who in comparison sees himself with Seagal's eyes.

I only saw black Adam cause it had the rock in it.

His energy drink tastes like shit but then again so does most energy drinks. His tequila is quite nice, though.

I'll be honest, I got tired of him as well. I'm not a fan of actors/actresses that only play 1 role. And I don't mean being typecast (which is a problem hollywood tends to do to certain actors/actress) but those who specifically only choose to be in that one role... like Dwayne Johnson and you can include Ryan Reynolds as well.

Ryan Reynolds being a comedic sort of character helps him out in that regard a lot more.

He had that Christmas musical on Apple TV+
He has that documentary with Rob McElhenney about owning the Football Club which has lead to a bunch of other rabbit holes
He is hyping up Deadpool 3 by doing low effort skits with Hugh Jackman coming back as Wolverine

Everything he involves himself with just becomes more fun. It's still a brand but it's overall more effective.

The issue with The Rock isn't necessarily that he isn't a varied actor. It's that the stuff he is doing isn't varied.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a perfect example of an actor that has limited range and yet made the absolute most of it by putting his character in a variety of different situations and roles. Personally I think this is the biggest issue with Rock's career. He is always the cool badass who partners up. If comedy is needed he'll partner up with Kevin Hart.

If Deadpool 3 isn't the two of them discovering they're madly in love I will be sorely disappointed.
