So like, occasionally there's a free save point, but most save points you have to pay to use. Perhaps like, a free one at the start of a dungeon and a microtransaction one at the middle and end. Maybe they can be divided into bronze (free), silver (cheap) and gold (expensive) save points even. This reminds me of some silly bee game that tried to sell "super continues" that would start you back where you left off with extra life and without impacting your score/rating in a level. Needless to say, that game failed horribly. I only knew about it because Game Informer did an interview with the creators to analyze why it failed.
