Can you guys not hang out with teenagers without sexualizing it >_>. Not saying any of us are qualified to mentor someone like Greta who has probably already seen a lot more meaningful shit than us. But there's literally nothing wrong with chilling with a teenager. If you're scared of the optics, I kind of get it tho. Cause a lot of people definitely will project. But if you see yourself more as a mentor, it can be helpful to have the perspective of someone older. It might be pretentious, but you basically just start feeling like everyones dad or Uncle at a certain age when you mature properly

Edit: Alright. Tbf. I just thought about it and my whole life has positioned me around younger people. So, I guess it makes sense. I probably shouldn't be so judgemental to those who might not of became accustom to it. To me it's just what it's always been.

If I was 20 years younger, I'd want to be her friend. But I'm not.

Oh I'm not sexualizing it. But I'm not an activist and have no desire to be. So I feel like she would actually get on my nerves. Doesn't sound like an enjoyable friendship. And I don't care about being a mentor to some random girl. I'll teach things to my son and his friends, but that's different.

I didn't even think about the optics though. Yeah, that would 100% get "groomer" comments from the peanut gallery.

My partner is 25 and I am 34. I feel comfortable hanging out(both platonic and romantic relationships) in the 25 to 45 range usually, although I would be ok with being friend with people aged 21/24) But I feel like at just 18(I think?) We might have a hard time relating even as platonic friend. I also remember having a few friends who were still 16/17 at that age so I would feel a little awkward

You're fine. I didn't feel attacked or anything. But your response is completely understandable, given how much CE horny posts about 18-19 year olds. I've just never been a part of that crowd. Girls that young just don't do it for me. So if I did hang out with a 19 year old, it would be 100% platonic from my end.

But it sounds like my life experience has also been pretty different from yours. I rarely interact with anyone under 30. I'm 33 and most of the people I work with are in the 40-55 age range. Hell, my girlfriend is 28 and I almost wrote her off as "too young" too (glad I didn't though, she's great).

I definitely respect that far more than the alternative. Though a 5 year gap doesn't really even have to be a conversation at that age lol. But yeah, I just kind of put that into perspective. Although it's still ultra creepy to always lust young women, it's also not just a given that people become accustom to forming a different type of bond with a younger generation. It helps that I have a sense of humor that can be more immature at times and I like doing stuff more business oriented grown people would definitely deem as childish lol. My whole life pretty much put me into a position of being the protective one while not really having to mature as much in other area to still make for a funner hang for kids lol

I have friends her age at work. It's not weird unless you make it weird lol.
