(Again, if the title wasn't clear enough, there are going to be major spoilers throughout)

Having seen the trailers and been hyped thanks to them, I watched the opening minutes and... it felt like a completely different fucking movie. Wtf?

The kid, his mom, and uncle basically felt like filler most of the movie. (Other than I thought the uncle would become the next Doctor Fate.)

And then the backstory for Black Adam was kinda shit. The switcheroo felt intentionally-obvious, since the Rock spoke during those early scenes. But more than that, the timeline was stupid. As soon as Heruit (sp?) got the powers, he could've waltzed into the palace to overthrow the king... but instead the movie talks about a series of battles and all of this other nonsense spreading things out for no reason. And then Adam gets locked away almost immediately.

Beyond that, I enjoyed the rest. Adam's interactions with the JS were often hilarious, the fight scenes were alright, the villain worked (specifically when he was revealed to be a descendant of the king -- which that part of it I didn't see coming, although partly because I didn't realize the same actor played the king, which was a great touch), and the costumes seemed pretty solid.

The only other thing I kinda disliked was how the movie felt rushed at times (Adam is in prison and now he's not!) and I wish we could've got more with Sabbac.

Looking forward to seeing how Black Adam fits into the DCEU.

At this point, my favorite of the new DC movies are probably (in order):
Suicide Squad reboot (which is basically just GotG with DC characters)
Aquaman
Shazam
Black Adam
Wonder Woman

But I haven't seen Joker or Justice League yet.
