If this game is just FF14 without the constraints of MMO gameplay or engine, it's definitely GotY caliber. And I say that as someone who hasn't liked single player Final Fantasy in like 20 years

FF14 would be awful as a singleplayer game

I mean, he has the whole team on this. Including the writer for the DRK story, who also did Shadowbringers and Endwalker.

I agree. I remember when they were talking about sexual content in Ring of Power and I was like "Eeeehhhh." It just feels out of place. I'm going to think the same thing when playing 16.

Basically M for being a standard dark fantasy with all of the disturbing trimmings, makes sense. Hopefully it's good regardless.

Creative business unit 3 made great dark fantasy games ie FFXII FFT and apparently FFXIV. Seinen stuff.

I don't see how you can conclude there wouldn't be if you'd seen the trailers. The Eidolon battles are pretty clearly scripted events with the interactivity consisting of minimal input, in all likelihood in some form of QTE.

I think Yoshi P has said they are fully playable and that each eikon battle will unique and different from one another. Although I do imagine some sort of QTE will be part of that.
