I recently have been catching up on Scream. I never watched them as they came out. I remember in highschool, people were freaking out over the original but for whatever reason I never saw it

I just finished Scream 4. Was the twist shocking to people back when it came out?

Its a big deal for me, such a great twist. Scream 4 is my favorite movie of the whole series, after seeing all 5 for the first time last year to catch up for the fifth when it came out

Five was a disappointment for me, but it did circumvent at least ONE trope, so I'll give it that: A shower scene victim was actually not a woman this time. So that was refreshing.

its funny at the time I remember being annoyed with emma roberts and I hadn't even found out about the nepotism yet. her acting was just kinda cringe but then again her expy in 5 was the real cringe

big deal is a stretch, they already did "sidney's family member is the killer" in the terrible 3rd one, literally the movie right before 4, a mere decade prior

I think using it as a mouthpiece for wes craven's distate of what would later be the explosion of social media is the real twist
