Ok so after exploring the menu a bit, not only can I give weapons a different skin, I can toggle the helmet on or off. I was really bothered by those annoyingly large helmets covering Kassandra's entire face and head, but now I no longer need to worry and can just equip the best gear regardless of how crappy it looks. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... I'm getting into the groove of the game now, really enjoying it for the most part. You know what I love is accidentally stumbling upon quests and completing them while I'm exploring the world, rather than reading them off a messageboard and going out of my way to complete them. That's why I like the ones that aren't timed, because I end up completing them inadvertently while in the middle of doing other stuff. Shark hunting is probably my least favorite quest, it's by far the most obtuse trying to both find sharks and then kill them in the vast ocean so I ignore it unless it's a story related quest. But something I've been wondering about, I've killed a couple of cultists apparently here and there, but don't I get a classic AC-style long drawn out cutscene when I kill them? The game treats them like NPCs, I just kill them without even knowing and then in the cultists page there's a small bio on them. I don't even know what they look like because when you kill a mercernary or cultist the game has them turn around so you only see their back --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... Yeah, most of the cutscenes around them happen in your typical RPG fashion instead. Some of them have a few lines in combat with them as well I believe, but don't have the standard "one on one" cutscene with them. It makes sense I guess, even if I do miss them. Kassandra is just killing them out of self preservation largely - at least possibly until a certain event later, so has no care to do more than snuff them out and then fuck the next person she sees. Also, still going through the game myself slowly currently I loathe how far backwards they've gone with the mercenary/bounty system compared to Origins Phylakes. Just so annoying having 3 suddenly appear from nowhere in the middle of killing a main mission NPC, where the bounty was caused from attacking said NPC - or walking through a fort (when you can't) Really should've kept something similar to Origin's. Have them wonder around as elite Cultist/ Then, if you want a punishment now the "desync" is gone, have them much less tethered to you or only operate in each "state" like Skyrims crime system. Not like they are an issue to kill, just a frustrating game experience imo. --- Let's make biscuits! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah... including the whole romance options is just so damn cringe. I don't know why I keep choosing it, just morbid curiosity to see "are they really gonna have kassandra hook up with a drunken slob bearded blacksmith? No... they wouldn't... oh shit wtf" I'm annoyed that nothing came out of the Odessa quests, she's relegated to either being an NPC or an inventory item on my ship that I'll never use. They went out of their way to make her feel somewhat unique at first. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Oh thank you I thought it was just me, so that's a gameplay mechanic in everyone's game. Yeah it's annoying, and I'm not gonna pay the bounty either just to avoid that. I've actually been making it a point to recruit all the gold mercenaries, though it's a hassle to stay hidden and have ikarus focus on them on long enough to pinpoint if they're a gold mercenary or purple mercenary. But after a while I'm thinking what's the point, I don't know who's the best mercenary and my ship only allows 4 lieutenants at one time. Wish it were more. Then again ship battles aren't really that concerning for me, they seem much easier than I remember them in AC 4. I don't even bother boarding most of the time. I just don't know which mercenaries have the best abilities for my playthrough. I keep recruiting the gold ones as a just in case. But I don't bother recruiting anyone else especially quest givers because it's like, meh. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ok so I'm done faffing about and gonna go back to finding kassandra's mother. I'm going to the haetara since it's slightly closer than the doctor. I was gonna do the doctor first but he's literally the farthest dot out. I accidentally triggered a blue quest, what are lost tales of greece? Because now Barnabas is perpetually in quest mode asking me to look for his wife. Should I just do that now and get his blue dot out of the way? Oh also, something weird albeit cool happened. I had these gold gear that were several levels below me, like the bracers of theseus, hippolyta's belt, jason's golden fleece armor... and then all of a sudden I heard a ding sound and they all jumped up like 20 levels to match my level. I think I might have completed the set? Because there was a "30% all resistance" bonus that was grayed out but now it appears. Does completing a set make each piece match my level? And is a set only referring to armor, not bows and weapons? Because I also found a Hades Bow and it's the only bow I've been using, been selling every other bow. It literally turns normal arrows into fire arrows, can't imagine getting a better bow in a while. As for weapons I'm using stinger daggers, they have auto-poison. I also have a mace with auto-fire but heavy weapons suck in this game for this kinda clunky combat, I can never get a hit in and even if I do the amount is borderline negligible compared to hit ratio. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... The "Lost tales of Greece" or whatever they are are just "extra missions" to do whenever you want. Many "recommend" doing them at the end, but not sure it matters too much tbh. And yeah, when you complete a gold set, they all jump up to match your current level which is very nice and saves on needing to upgrade them. Weapons don't count for any sets, no. Eventually you might want to seek out Hephaistos' workshop in Myson Cave - Malis, or whatever it's called - which is a place where you can upgrade your engravings past the max level of 5 to 10 for lots of money. Can lower it by getting to mercenary rank S2 which unlocks at... some point after getting to rank 1? Nothing ever tells you to go there as was added later on and I only found out about it after looking at the merc rank rewards after going past rank 1. Not sure is terribly needed mind, but one way to spend money and upgrade I guess? I found using heavy weapons wasn't the best either as just too clunky/slow to take on more than a few at once and struggled with elites or bosses with them so just stopped. --- Let's make biscuits! ... ... I just killed a ton of mercenaries and half an entire town. I was reading quest descriptions off the message board, and apparently the game doesn't pause when I'm in that menu for whatever reason the developers had. So all of a sudden I get the alert sound and I'm attacked by some cultist walking around with his posse, which took me out of the message board screen and into combat mode. Annoyed, I decide to attack him back and kill him. But for some fucking reason even the citizens of that small town attack me, like they're loyal to the cultists or something, and in a fit of rage I kill them too. So more attack me. And as this is happening the mercenary bar keeps increasing and increasing increasing so while killing cultist and his guards, mercenaries pop up shooting arrows at me and stabbing me. At this point I'm so enraged by all this bullshit of everyone ganging up on me when I didn't do anything wrong and was ambushed in the first place that I kill every living thing in sight. By the end it was a Rambo-esque bloodbath, the entire town was covered in corpses. And all because I was attacked while literally minding my own business. The mercenary bar actually filled up completely, but after killing the bounty symbol man I got it reduced somewhat. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ok now this is just plain hilarious. I found a cultist, who owned slaves and was cheating a slave out of his freedom. He had some of his slaves in cages. I unlocked the cage with a slave in front of him, and the cultist instantly attacked me, fine that makes sense. But then the slave I freed picked up a sword and started attacking me too! What in the actual fuck, I was so shocked by this that I didn't even instantly kill him, I just stood there and thought is this really happening. Also sidenote I googled this quest wondering if I can find an explanation for what just happened and it turns out this quest is related to Odessa way back in the beginning of the game, the woman I had join my crew. So I automatically complete the quest regardless and the choice to kill her is out of my hands. How was any player supposed to know she would factor in later? Dont dismiss people like Odessa they will NOT return to the game world they are just gone. The mission related to Odessa will have you make a choice, stick to her side as the other guy is not worth killing her for. NPCs and quest characters that you can bring aboard your ship only have that happen when the majority or all of their quests in the world are done. Odessa is a rare case of having a story mission later. I refused to play Odyssey for a full year until they did the option of lowering the fucking stupid enemy level scaling garbage. Its easy to burn out on the Assassin's Creed games if you are trying to 100% and by doing so grinding through endless activities that bore you. Yeah my rule has been I don't bother going out of my way to do quests, only if they're physically near me while walking around. Especially since the timed quests seem to be randomly generated with the same fetch quest or delivery request or assassination every time. I only go out of my way for gold quests and impact quests. I've even stopped going to undiscovered locations with question marks. I'll wait to see if the story naturally takes me there, and if not I'll do it near the end of the game. Here's the thing with the combat system. Sometimes it feels like it finally clicked for me, other times it does not mesh well. My problem is I'm playing it too much like Bayonetta and trying to dodge cancel when that's not a thing in this game. I had been playing Bayonetta 2 and was too used to a near perfect game with fluid movement and combat, that it took me a while to adjust to the input lag of AC.
