I often have to throw away a carton because it's near or past the experation date.

Eggs are trash, but great for cooking.

You don't have to throw eggs away as soon as it hits the date on the carton.

I've had eggs a couple weeks after and they were still totally fine.

Yeah usually a couple weeks after. I even cook some eggs like nearly a month later after expiration. I went out of state for over a week.

I dont cook eggs every day. Ive cracked open some eggs that went bad though. It was from a batch of expired eggs. Looked fine until i cracked it open. It was mostly liquid and had yolk darkened. No smell. I fried it up anyways and threw it away. Then cooled pan, wiped the pan to clear oil then cleaned the pan.

Id say out of the regular times it expired and i tried to cook eggs, i had at least 2 that were sus and i said nope, Not today...

I know, but I only really cook on weekends so if I had eggs today that might be bad, I'm not actually going to use them until next weekend or the weekend after if I find a recipe that has some eggs in them, and by then they actually will be bad. I have no issues throwing away 3 possibly bad eggs today and replacing them with a new dozen when I need them.

2-4 days for a family of four. I buy a 30 carton, as it's a little cheaper. For a quick breakfast I'll fry 2-3, and while that's going microwave a Green Giant steamable bag of veggies (I like the one with potatoes, snap peas and peppers with a light sauce) and throw the eggs on top. Fast and pretty cheap (I stock up on the veggies when they're a dollar).

On Sundays I'll usually cook an entire dozen. My son only likes the whites so I'll usually cook him four. Oddly he'll eat scrambled eggs.

How many chickens do you have and how many eggs do you get from them?

That's awesome. My parents have chickens and when they're laying it's crazy how many eggs they get. We always had them growing up and it was awesome. Had pigs, too.

Currently have 13 hens and 1 rooster. They lay pretty regularly. To the point we give away eggs to people we know regularly. This is our current basket after cooking a bunch this morning for breakfast. They don't have to be refrigerated unless you wash them.

My cousin is an absolute glutton. We can't keep food in our house. He will literally eat like 9 eggs in one sitting, along with other food. Then come back and finish it off a bit later.

Before he moved in, a dozen eggs would last a week or more, now he goes through a dozen a day at least.

Cool. I've got a friend who has a few chickens and he gives me a couple eggs whenever I'm over. He has a mini-ramp in his backyard and turned the one end underneath into a chicken coop.

They are lovely creatures. But they do shit everywhere, so we have to put down a lot of wood shavings to keep their area from turning into a muddy slop of poop.

This price hike has wiped out my demand, too. I used to buy 2-3 dozens per trip to the grocery store, but now I buy zero. I'm awaiting the end of this bird flu to see just how high they'll keep prices because... reasons.
