I know rare is long gone but you'd think they'd try to make one anyway

Because everyone always says DK64 was bad when it was really just below Rare's average

The only thing I remember is the "hell of a guy" lyric.

I'm not sure if I ever played it, but casual swearing from Nintendo caught my attention.

Nintendo is scared. Like how WB was scared to try Green Lantern again. Same idea. Nintendo took the wrong lesson from DK64

There are probably people at Nintendo who would like to make a new 3d DK game but the ones at the top keep saying no. Nintendo bosses are old and out of touch

Nintendo even won't even try franchises that sold well. Just look at fzero

F-ZERO actually was suffering from a lack of sales. Each mainline entry sold less than the one before it.

Fzero gx was a players choice title which means it had to sell a certain amount to get that label. It was like gcs greatest hits

Also dk64 was the second best selling game in n64 history

You should try A Hat in Time. It's a fun indie 3d platformer. Mostly the old school 3d platformers are indie games now.

And it still sold less than its predecessors (the original and F-ZERO X).

Also, I came across this which says that GX actually sold ~0.6 million, but since it's a Fandom link, take it with a grain of salt:
https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/F-Zero

  • Despite producer Toshihiro Nagoshi stating that F-Zero GX sold 1.5 million units, this must be an error as Nintendo has publicly reported all their published GameCube games that have sold at least a million to the CESA Games White Paper, and F-Zero GX was never listed.
  • In Japan the game sold 0.101 million, and 0.341 million in North America by February 2007. Since the game was a Player's Choice in Europe, it sold at least 0.25 million in that region, but the final European numbers are currently unknown.

Despite the fact that their first party titles are basically the only reason they're still in business, Nintendo seems to absolutely hate making most of them.
