Very rarely. I usually am trying to figure it out too. So, it's whoever gets there first

It's mostly my mom, but she's more tech savvy than she gives herself credit for.

Sometimes Im just pretending Im trying to figure it out with them until they get it. It's about the quality time and me not actually having to learn anything in the end. People tend to put in more effort when someone else pretends to also be putting in effort

I am legit thinking of starting a business of just password recovery services. I volunteer at [well-known non-profit] and thought I could help with emails, templates, greeting visitors, etc. Uh uh. Like 90% is password recovery or otherwise unlocking something. Or installing/re-installing apps for the Boomer staff.

Overheard: "If you're so knowledgeable about smartphones, why is it taking so long to recover my password?"
Bitch, if you don't get out of my face, I'm going to log into your MySpace account and post porn.

One "lady" there (think Aunt Esther from Sanford & Son) has had 5 phones in the last year. She claims she keeps getting "hacked" but the last time I unlocked her phone, she'd simply mistyped her password.

When I worked as a residential cable techpretty much all the time.

These days, not so much besides for my parents on rare occasions. Usually its been resetting/reprogramming their garage door opener if theres a power outage because the battery backup is dead so it loses its memory.

Maybe Ill see how to replace the battery and fix that as one of my Christmas gifts to them.

I'm not sure I understand their fear. Are they afraid it's going to blow up or break?

This is one of the things that worries me most about getting older.

I want the world to pass me by as little as possible, when it comes to technology. For as long as I can, lol.

I'm constantly in this position as a male registered nurse who primarily works with the elderly in long term care. I make sure that "electronic difficulties" is not an eligible excuse for "busy" families to forget relatives in hospice until November. I also work with social services to ensure our disabled residents looking forward to watching TV events secure what they need to do so and assist in travel arrangements when licensed staffing is otherwise unavailable. All in-between my regular shifts.

Some of the most respectable people I've met were those I provided care for. They want to experience life too.
