Real landmines explode the second you step on them, but in almost every movie and TV show about war, landmines don't blow up until the victim lifts their foot.

You've all seen it, the "don't move, soldier" scene with some lanky new recruit sweating bullets and clenching his jaw while his squad tries to somehow dig around the landmine and disarm it.

Etc etc.

I know nothing about landmines, just popping in to say the acting in that first clip was terrible. What's it from?

Baffles me to know people like that can find work and even star in/hold down a series. I'm sure the script doesn't help but a good actor can still bring a bad script to life. Idk.
The clip stuck out as weird to me because some elements of the production seem much higher quality than what the acting would lead you to believe. I guess that's similar to trends in larger budget MCU Disney Wars shows/movies too. Acting is kinda dead as a profession.

Edit: the 2nd clip is a perfect example of good/decent acting with a very bad script.

Is cutting the red wire always the way to disarm bombs?

Batman didn't have that option.

I feel like silencers fit into this same category. People who write movies have no idea how they work

That does seem like a not so terrible idea to buy time

The guy has to have an entire squad around to get him out and that holds everything and everyone up once they know they're there

But also that's stupid and not really what mines are for

It's gotta be from a World War 2 TV show or movie originally.

The landmine in Sons of Anarchy that blows up Kenny Johnson (mostly known for The Shield) is realistic. It goes off as soon as he steps on to it.

I think that's just one of those things that floated around for so long that people started believing it.

Also, funny enough, landmines aren't meant to kill people, just make them. Particularly the leg. Second guy in that clip probably lived

It's from Arrow. It's a CW show, so you're not wrong lol

Malcolm was one of the best characters, though.

He didn't. Technically. It's a DC show so there are multiverse shenanigans.

It's in the title of the video. The show is called Arrow. It's a show on the CW about Green Arrow from DC Comics.

And yeah, the CW has quite a bit of terrible acting.

in OPs second clip they said it's a tank mine
tank mines are calibrated to go off on, you know, tanks, not people. the weight of a person isn't even enough to tickle the trigger of a tank mine
