Sure I know the "hat overrides conconciousness and makes people murder their friends and family joke"

But on top of that the video at the start depicting capturing the frog and becoming electricity show Mario to be confused, horrified and in pain. Even trying to fight it but failing.

And that happens everytime you capture something... It's so needlessly dark for a childrens game.

Would be like if Sega turned around and said "BTW Sonic feels excruticating agony everytime he collects a gold ring." for no reason

It's like someone wrote a script for a Sci-Fi thriller movie and someone at Nintendo just went "Let's steal it and make it about Mario for some reason haha!"

The guy spent all of SMB3 putting on stray fursuits, I think he's into it
