Poland would have still qualified had Mexico game ended 2-0 due to the fifth(?) tiebreaker between them and Poland, which is the fair play tiebreaker

Poland had less yellow cards lol. But Saudi Arabia scored that last goal to forgo the use of that specific tiebreaker entirely

The fair play tie breaker is super lame. Rather it just be a coin flip when it comes down to that

That goal meant nothing to Mexico. 3-0 they go through on goal differential, 3-1 they go through on the goals scored tiebreaker. It was kinda surreal seeing a goal mean absolutely nothing to the team that gave it up.

Messi wasn't all that great at free kicks either I think, but he just had a lot of moments from just having done so many of them. I saw this professional free kicker coach say Messi's free kicks were pretty mid and lacked the hard top spin to adequately go through the block.

Interestingly my friend from Argentina doesn't want them to win the world cup. Apparently there is a lot of corruption going on in their organisation, and I guess on the domestic level too, so he's hoping some poor results for them will bring about some changes.
