Holidays suck @ Walmart. I'm a TL so I was forced to do OT. Came in at 5AM didn't leave till 11PM. Get told we need to go faster. Go faster my ass. I'm 1 man with a skeleton crew. How do I go faster? She wants me to discipline my team more. My team is "holding" the rest of the store back. Yeah, whatever.

Sounds like a shitty leader.

Are you hitting your metrics? Is the store being stocked within an acceptable time frame? Basically, are the standards being met? If so tell her to go suck rocks.

Some people are so miserable and petty that they are incapable of noticing a good thing even if you shove it down their throat

walmart was a pretty shitty job when i worked there like 8 years ago now, but i can barely even imagine how much more fucked it is these days. i worked in electronics and we had a good, friendly crew. there would be at least 3-4 associates in the department at all times, and it was pretty lax, there was a lot of downtime for us to just shoot the shit together. and with the sporting goods and photo guys on either side of us too. now, every time i've been in there shopping lately, you'll be lucky to see even ONE associate covering the whole back block of departments. i don't see how they can even keep the place running with so few associates.

cost cutting measures. cost 9-15$ per hour to employ one person to man the department.
wish they hired more checkers tbh. once they had only 1 person working the express lane. need one for normal checkout too.

At my store. It's only 1-2 at any given time. 3 total people ex the TL.

GM side has 1 or 2 people plus two TLs. But, most times the TLs open and aren't around at night.

Deli has 1-2 people. And the fresh areas (produce and meat) have 1-2. Most times just 1 person covering meat and produce.

My team is supposed to have 12 people plus two TLs. My Manager fired my co-TL and several of my crew because of attendance. I'm not getting back up till after the Holidays. I'm at the best of times 6 on the line.

We're still expected to unload the Trucks and have grocery 100% stocked before 10PM.

Nope. My metrics are an impossible goal with so few people. We're supposed to finish unloading the truck in 2 hours. It takes longer because we have to set up now and move all the pallets of unworked freight out. We can't take anything out to the floor atm. Not before 9PM. The only thing we can take is what comes off the grocery truck and that isnt unloaded till after the truck is finished.

My tasks involve making sure they get it finished and making sure our backroom guys fully scan the bins. Also ensuring the backroom is clean and all high-ticket items are checked into the security cage.

Our backroom is so overblown with freight. It's too much. There's no room to really do much of anything. O'N is a skeleton crew as well. They aren't capable of finishing everything in the store by 7AM. They're giving most the O/N crew unlimited OT to get it done.

That's the problem. I get paid ($21/H as a TL) way more here than anywhere else. Plus, my benefits and they're gunna cover my College expenses when i go back next year.
