Only on the east coast. California is a paradise that never gets them.

They always have nice weather, too.

Well the city of Los Angeles isn't too far from the beach. So I can do all of that after a 30-40 minute drive.

But most of the houses on the water front are $2 million+ for anything decently sized. I wish I had that kind of money >_>

not if most of the buildings are made out of some thick concrete like in okinawa. been through so many typhoons in my 14 years of living there and the worst outcome was 3-day-long power outages. that said I know some of the older folk there live in very fragile-looking houses in isolated villages which i assume is where most of the death count happens (outside of people being outside during typhoons)..

i remember seeing a video of a photographer being swept by a rouge wave a few hours after a typhoon had just occurred. he was sitting on top of a coral. cliff. video has been deleted since then.

pretty sure it was typhoon jelawatt. https://www.deccanherald.com/content/282257/powerful-typhoon-kills-two-hurts.html
1 killed in okinawa. 1 killed in japan. i used to have the video saved on an older pc but sadly its gone. the waves didnt even look that rough at first.

once was a 6-7 day power outage. boring as hell. had to rely on food donations and cold taco bell bean burrito's.
3 nasty storms back to back in 2007 caused that (fueled by typhoon remnants).

If that ocean you live by is in Alaska, you don't get most of those things very often. At least not at comfortable temperatures.
