If you like murder mysteries you gonna love this.

You play as a woman in the 1930s iirc on a cruise ship. During the voyage her husband is tossed overboard at night, and she (you) did it.

It uses a hybrid of cyoa, and vn game design where you race against the clock (time advances when you talk to someone/interact with something) going around the ship figuring out how to get away with it anyway you can, and uncover people on the ship's secrets too. It's one of those games where you fail, and experiment to be sent back to the start till you figure out an order in which to do things around the ship to get the end you want. You also gotta keep track of when the other people on the ship move, and where to manage your time properly.

It's intense having to keep your story consistent through dialogue boxes, and not get caught lying.

Just had to talk about it as indie games can be so creative, and if it sounds good to you i say it's worth the price.

Thought this was about that Kurt Russell movie

I have recommended it every time someone has asked for recommendations in a category it falls under. It's quite good game from a company that only really makes bangers.

Look into Laura Bow 2. It's a normal murder game but the setting and style are insane if you are into the period. Both it and the first game are a bit dated but if you are fine with a game that you will have to go through multiples of times due to finding out new information that prevents screw-ups then the latter is substantially more playable.

Did the sequel have a "skip" function due to that?

No? Both games predate the concept of a skip function in games by decades. They are just old PC games which means that they are extremely short if you aren't stumbling through.
