my dad had a meltdown this morning because of a headline on the GMA ticker about 2 high schools in Alabama being renamed from the Confederate leaders they were previously named after. said it was "erasing history" and that the Civil War was just "fought over cotton", and something about the North wanting to sell cotton to other countries or some shit. i told him no history is being erased, it is still written down in books, and he said "is it?" lmao. and i read to him the Cornerstone Speech, and he told me that's just my opinion.

Lol I'm canadian, I worked in the US a ton early in my career. I was in Kentucky working with this piece of shit named Jesse from Alabama. He would have this argument all the time. He also had a bumpersticker that said BAMA. I let him know the O fell off. He'd get so fuckin mad.

In any event, it depends on where it goes and what kind of a relationship you want. Lost Causers tend to also be the "I'm not racist but" types who have deluded themselves into thinking that their partial answer is somehow the enlightened complete story of events. And if they actually believe that bullshit, there is probably a strong possibility they believe in other surface logic nonsense. It's a bit much to assert this girl might believe in a one-world order Jewish conspiracy theory based on this alone, but I am saying that the kind of people who believe this tend to go further down the rabbit hole.

Ultimately, it's for you to find out if she's one of those nutjobs. A misconception based on faulty education, and believe me, I know full well the mishandling of the truth southern states do to keep their rednecks happy, is understandable if she is willing to understand she's got a distorted perspective based on a losers opinion. If she fails that hurdle, you don't need to find out what other kinds of nuttery is going on there.
