He's not extreme in any of his social views. He's pro LGBT rights, he's mixed on guns - he's against assault weapons, pro handguns. He's anti-abortion, thats his only real flaw, but he opposed a 6-week abortion ban twice, so theres that. Dude just lacks any charisma and personality. They largely still live at home, so inflation and the rising costs of living to no hit them as hard as it's hitting their 55 and 65 year old parents. Abortion and LGBTQ+ rights. And the last thing young people want is being told what they can and can't do.
