It did have some good games, but anyone who thought it was a good console is delusional. It was slow as shit, the graphics were terrible, the GamePad had shit battery life and the eShop was horrific.

Only Nintendo console ive never owned. Everything from NES up to Switch and all the handhelds (even the Virtual Boy) but that was the first one I passed on.

The only thing I miss about the Wii U is the community aspect. The Switch is substantially better, and I understand it's going for a minimalist UI, but the lack of Miiverse and various apps that their last two consoles and handheld had is greatly missed.

Everything else about it was just a mess that even they didn't seem to know what to do with.

The gamepad got way more shit than it deserved. It made the inventory and maps in WWHD super convenient and it wasn't as cumbersome as people claim. I got a pro controller for multiplayer, but never really used it myself cuz the gamepad was comfier to me.

It definitely coulda used options to turn off the screen when you didn't need its display (BotW) and better battery life though.

Switch is just as slow with the exact same graphics, but people praise that one to death

GamePad battery life was fine. It would last more than long enough for extended sessions, and the charging dock made it easy to keep it ready for the next session

The Wii U eshop was much better than the Switch's, which is unbearably slow and frequently goes on extremely long maintenance

Wii U was a great console and thinking so is not at all delusional

Switch has far more problems, like the complete and utter GARBAGE known as Joycons

You can get a swift sail that's way faster and automatically changes the wind to the direction you're facing as you sail. Several triforce pieces are in the chests where you originally just found their charts. The mask and maybe some other items are found somewhere else. Miiverse posts replaced the Tingle Tuner (but now that's down of course). The pictobox doesn't need to be upgraded iirc and it holds a ton more photos. It also adds a stamp to photos that will work for the Nintendo Gallery so you don't need to wonder if a pic is good enough before getting there. The Nintendo Gallery is way less tedious in general. You can use motion controls to help aim with several items.

I loved the original WW, but the HD version makes it so much better. My only complaint is that it's not as cartoony, but the new graphics are beautiful too, so it's fine.

Yeah, also customization options.

It's appalling that the Switch is missing messaging features as well as easily-accessible folders and sorting and more color themes aside from black and white.

I'll admit that I didn't play Zero because of the awkward control scheme, but I was under the impression that it's dual screen gameplay with both the GamePad and the TV was a major part of it's core identity. They'd have to redesign the game to only utilize a single screen.

i honestly really liked the wii u as well. i don't really know where the hate comes from. i liked the gamepad, loved virtual console, loved that it also doubled as the first wii.

the hardware being "bad" doesn't mean anything because all the nintendo hardware has been bad, and it was no worse than you'd expect after the wii. the only complaint i can understand is the low game output, but that's not the console's fault.

Someone already commented with how much more pleasant it is to play, with the two biggest things being the new super sail that makes sailing easy, and a reduced triforce hunt. I believe you also get bigger wallets so finances are easier?

In addition to all that, the screen on the controller is used for inventory and stuff, and it's actually useful.

In summary, yes, it is most definitely worth playing again if you were a fan of the original. It's like they took the original, made it prettier, and got rid of all the annoying stuff. 10/10 game imo.
