Sorry buddy, but this is delusional thinking. Even if the Republicans underperform, it will not be a blue wave. American political history since the 1980s testifies against the notion that the Democrats will keep the House. For more on this, see my earlier post (#122), which provided institutionally-focused reasons that the Dems are at a great disadvantage this year (just as the GOP was disadvantaged in 2018). Recent polling, which has tended to underestimate Republican performance in recent election cycles, is also favoring the GOP right now. Also, it should not be forgotten that the Republicans actually made gains in the House in the 2020 election despite losing the Presidential race. Without Trump on the ballot and with an unpopular Democrat serving as President, the political situation is better for the GOP this year than it was in 2020.

Eager to see how this topic goes. I bet most posts are just vapid everyone is stupid except me comments that dont really answer the question.

Indeed. The problem is that everyone here is so stuck in their progressive echo chamber that they have no idea what ordinary Americans think about things. Many if not most voters are less ideological than they would like them to be. I am an ideological and conservative person with strong convictions about religion and politics. But I think it is possible and desirable to try to leave as many of my own convictions about how people should vote out of the picture in a discussion like this and provide a sober analysis of what will probably happen and why, without necessarily disparaging voters who don't see eye to eye with me.

Also, the smug, sanctimonious character of some of these posts is a little amusing given that the party of Lori Lightfoot, Joe Biden, and Chuck Schumer hardly has a monopoly on sagely wisdom and intelligence. There are plenty of good reasons that serious people might not endear the Democratic leadership right now and might vote against the governing party. Skepticism of the Democratic Party and its leadership does not imply slavish fidelity to the cult of personality surrounding Donald Trump, either.

Many of these same idiots voted for Bill Clinton in 1992, Barack Obama in 2008 and Joe Biden in 2020, you know. You can continue to demonize these people all you want, but it certainly wont inspire the so-called bitter clingers to turn out and vote for your candidates. The Left is its own worst enemy right now, and its hatred for ordinary people is a main reason that they will struggle to defeat the more populist (in rhetoric if not in deed) Right in the upcoming election. Guys like FDR were good at getting these uneducated blue collar voters to vote for them. The Left today prefers to just attack them and then wonders why they dont always win elections.

Funny how the same people in this thread who think that anyone to the right of Bernie is just an idiotic, stupid voter cant actually put a cogent, thoughtful sentence together.

To be fair to them, the drudgery of surviving in a capitalist society leaves many of us with little energy, and our society is practically designed to divert people to bland, comforting consumerism and "keeping up with the Joneses". We don't teach critical thinking until college, and even then only in a select few disciplines. The media ecosystem is basially designed to misinform people and present an artificially narrow range of options as "acceptable"
