they were more the final nail in the coffin, redbox did most of the work. i remember blockbuster eventually started putting up kiosks like redbox did a little before they went under but it was too late --- I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth ... I loved video stores and I miss them. It was nice asking the store workers for suggestions, or just talking about movies. Also it was fun to look through the sections and find weird movies to try. Considering the price of games, I'm kind of surprised they couldn't survive off that alone. It might be in a similar situation soon with gamepass and other subscription services becoming the norm, but it's a bit weird that there wasn't a more affordable alternative to playing new games for a while. ... I used to work at Hollywood Video. And when it closed, I was wondering how long it would take for Blockbuster to follow suit. Unsurprisingly it just took over a year later.
