Let them. I usually assume that positions with that wide of a range in salary are scam MLM/sales jobs and ignore them.

Ageed.

I actually had to fight to make it so my hospital posted salary ranges. I can't even count how many interviews I previously had that ended with interviewees rescinding their interest due to the payscale being lower than they were expecting. Waste of everybody's time.

All hidden salary ranges do is let companies get away with shortchanging new hires and playing favoritism.

Another good requirement is internal public information on salary ranges within individual departments.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Yup Im all for it here. Though we know some internal employees are probably going to leave once they see ranges. They joined years ago and probably havent had their comp raised enough to match the market. Which is shitty that employers do that. Maybe now we can do better than 1-3% annual increase when leaving a job can give you 10-20% easily.

This. The application will say something like "based on experience" range and at the interview they'll lowball you.

Much better than the alternative of going through rounds of interviews only to find out they plan on lowballing you right when you receive an offer letter. Especially since it's looked down upon for applicants to ask about compensation during an interview for some idiotic reason.

At least if you see a listing like that, you can assume they're going to put you on the lower end of the scale and act accordingly.

We'll have about ten minutes before some lawyer figures out that "$0-" is legally compliant.

It'd be nice if part of the requirement made it so that the min/max have to be based on actual data and can't just be made up numbers

It's been the law in Colorado for a few years and a lot of job listings have $1 - $99/hr.

Remote-work positions also specifically state "work cannot be performed in Colorado" because of that law.

it would be a start but even some law like this in every state wouldn't solve all the ridiculous and frustrating issues with job postings. It should be mandatory that employers are educated and informed that people with 5+ yrs of experiences are not even remotely interested in entry-level positions that only pay $40k unless the candidate is desperate as hell and even if they are will jump ship at the first actual decent offer
