In the Hood...I didn't like it. I'm looking for a more traditional horror Leprechaun movie. Too much attempted humor. Should probably start with the original.

The first one is kind of weird, like they were trying to make a family friendly "horror" movie that devolved into a legitimate R-rated horror movie.

I apparently liked 2 the most, with the caveat that I remember nothing about it.

I watched the original tonight. I believe I had seen it many years ago but this was a good refresh. I enjoyed it a lot more than In the Hood.

That's going to be tough since the literal genre for the film series is "comedy horror", one of the toughest cinematic genres to commercially succeed in prior to 2005.

The 80's tossed out a lot of cringey shit trying to copy the comically creepy box office success of Gremlins. Writer Chris Columbus and Director Joe Dante managed to find a lone vein of gold in an otherwise huge empty wasteland.

Leprechaun has multiple sequels, but it's hardly a comparative success. It's representative of the many comedy horror films that didn't strike gold between 1980 - 2000. These films have a cult following because of how bad the productions were to point its comical.
