Only problem is you have to clean it out often. Mine sets off the smoke detector if I dont
I mean you should clean it out every single time you use it

Bone in, skin on chicken thighs.

I do chicken wings a couple times a week, 225 for 25 minutes to dry out the skin, then 450 for 30 minutes to get them extra crispy then toss in whatever hot sauce, works great.
Based on my experience cooking wings in the air fryer - how are you not just burning these to an inedible crisp?

Can someone explain the difference between an air fryer and a toaster oven? Honestly they appear to do the same functions.

if this has already been covered in this topic just point me to that post

If the toaster oven is a mini convection oven, as in it circulates the heat with a fan or something, its basically an airfryer.
Most ovens just have the enclosed space and heating elements or sources, but the heat just moves naturally inside the oven so you havo preheat a bit to get a nice consistent temp.
Convections circulate the heat all around the oven which results in faster cooking times and crisp stuff up better.

Thanks for the tip. My toaster oven actually does have the ability to act as a convection oven.

well, it does change things. like i said earlier in the topic, i've had a toaster oven with a convection setting on it for a long time, and when i first started hearing about air fryers and how great they are, i thought i was missing the boat. until i was told that a convection toaster oven does the same thing. since then, i've been able to enjoy air fryer recipes without having to buy an additional kitchen appliance.

i think it's weird that so many people who have a dedicated air fryer seem to get offended whenever someone says that convection toaster oven does the same thing. it's like y'all are taking it as a personal attack or something, lol.

I might try cooking some hash browns in it. I always have trouble getting them the way I want them to be cooked in a frying pan

I bet hashbrowns would be excellent. Maybe 10-12 mins for peak crispy

I've actually resorted to using my airfryer to cook my nieces and nephews Bagel Bites. Sons a bitches come out absotively perfect after 5 mins at 400. Kids go crazy and I'm basically Gordan Ramsay to them, minus the insults and yelling, ofc.

in my experience, the frozen patties turn out pretty nice in there, but if you grate or spiralize the potatoes yourself, it's just not the same as pan-frying them

Loose shreds
yeah i dunno how good they'd come out in the toaster oven/air fryer then. probably worth a shot, but when i've done the spiralized by hand hashbrowns which are similar in my toaster oven, i didn't really like how they came out versus pan-fried.

Yeah, I make potatoes O'Brien (homefries w peppers) and have to use the skillet for those. I think the shredded potato might be more trouble than its worth in the airfryer.

Shredding potatoes is a lot more work than simply opening a bag and pouring it into a frying pan

Actually I guess cook times would vary by type of air fryer, I have a Cuisinart from Costco.
