In Article III, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, treason is specifically limited to levying war against the U.S., or adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

Based on your understanding of Trump's involvement of the January 6 capitol attack, were his actions tantamount to treason?

Yes. When paramilitary groups attack the United States capitol building waving the most famous traitors flag at your direction, that's the most literal definition of levying war that I can think of.
