yeah actually I guess Mortal Kombat for Genesis. Diablo was the first M game I owned though. I do remember playing MK but I don't think I ever had my own copy of it.

Yeah, I thought I was crazy at first and actually had to google it because I did not remember it being a harder rating.

Also, wasn't Zone of the Enders rated M solely because of the MGS2 demo?

Thrill Kill. Though that was rated AO (Adults Only).

I was stationed in South Korea and had gotten my PS1 modded to play burnt CDs of games. When Thrill Kill was cancelled, the code was bootlegged onto pirate sites... so it was then burned onto a CD, I bought a copy for $3 and played it for a while.

Mandela effect. I went and pulled out the original PC version that I own and it is indeed rated Teen. If I had to guess why this happened I think it's probably because Diablo came out around the same time and had a similar vibe hack and slash vibe.

So I guess the first Mature rated game I played was probably Half-Life.
