Though I contend that there isn't much of a way for regular folks to gauge how likely it is for nukes to drop. How many working nukes Russia has (not to mention biological and chemical weapons), how willing Putin is to use them, whether or not he could---these are things known only at the highest levels. We'd all like to think Putin won't use nukes or wouldn't be allowed to by those close to him, but nobody here really has all the facts. Hopefully we come out of this OK and the world moves past anyone having nukes. There have been some uncomfortable close shaves before, and no civilization has ever lasted forever in recorded history. Probably the only thing putting any restraint on Putin is his concern that if he uses nukes first, it'd be be met with a devastating response. But the moment he starts to sense American resolve wavering, if he suspects the world will do nothing, then the more likely he is to gamble that he can end the war quickly and cheaply by using nukes.
