A bud of mine posted his top 5 games on twitter and of the 4 i played, theyre all 10s. And he doesnt care for weeb stuff. But P5R is on his list. that tells me it's prob exceptional.

kinda hyped for a game i know nothing about lol

there's a lot of talking and cutscenes, but once you get into the flow it's pretty great

Im actually super into that. As i get older i really appreciate the narrative driven stuff

remember to take your time. they literally tell you this. all the time based things in persona games are waaaaaaaaay lenient

P5R is legit one of the very best games I've ever played, you're in for an absolute treat.

It has what's known as a "slow burn".

Beginning feels the longest, but it explodes with plot with equal/greater force.

Example: Breaking Bad

My advice is to relax and do all the confidents and activities you feel like doing. Don't follow a guide to min-max everything in 1 playthrough; you'll just get burned out. Part of the fun of Persona is comparing who you hang out with other people. On NG+ you can easily do all the confidents with your maxed out social stats >_>

Also Kawakami is best girl. Remember that!

You can date no one, you can date everyone. Whatever you want. Personally I always fuck everyone in 1 playthrough when I replay Persona 3, 4, 5

ppl are gonna say you don't HAVE to do the dating but honestly yes, you have to do the dating, it's a big part of the game, you can friendzone them if you want

oh yeah, i did the relationships in Hades but they were extremely well done and not cringe at all

If you mean "Do you have to date a girl?" Nope.

If you mean "Do you have to hang out with people period?" Well, technically no, you don't have to, but you might make things a lot harder on yourself down the line.

I played through the first dungeon in the non-Royal version and quit. I don't really like turn-based RPGS or those games where you have to capture and train different monsters. The social stuff was kind of cool though.

I started the non royal edition a couple years ago got about 2 hours in and quit because I didnt know if I should restart with the royal edition then i forgot about it, should I get royal or go back and finish the game I already have?

Well, yeah, you can absolutely do that. Just be ready to say "no" sometimes though lol.

To me, the social bits always felt similar to Mass Effect (though obviously different in it's own way), in that, you do it because you give a rat's ass about the character more so than anything else. Yet, it's totally optional.

Persona 3 is the only one that forces you to fuck when you max out a chick. 4 and 5 let you choose if you want to slap their titties or just friendzone them and still max their rank

The tutorial section is about 30min to an hour long, so I wanna give that warning. Once the game opens up though, it becomes really good. I would also avoid looking up guides and just going at your pace. If you didn't max out on all your traits, you can easily do a new game plus to finish it off.

i mean

half the game is relationship stuff.

but it serves a purpose in the other, RPG aspect of the game.

royal edition changes a bunch of mechanics, makes the dungeons better, and has an extra story section that is the part of the entire game

highly recommend it

The vanilla Persona 5 was the first Persona game and I loved it so much I literally bought Persona 5 Royal right after because I wanted to play the game again

2 hours is only like 2% of the game >_> You should just restart. Royal is so much better than the vanilla version

5 hours? It's been years since I played it, but I don't remember it being that long for some reason. I'll take your word for it though lol.

I'm super ok with long wind-ups to get to free roam. It helps me pay better attention

I'm glad to hear it's a long game. Games take way longer for me than most people, so I get a lot of entertainment outta longer ones esp

It'll probably take you 120 hours if you do the extra 3rd semester that was added in Royal

I'll also say the game does a really good job of getting you invested in the Confidants to the point where you'll naturally wanna hang out with them to get more of their story and help them resolve their problems.

I didn't really pick this game up for the social sim aspects, but it's one of the things I ended up really liking about the game.
