Elite Raids, which some are saying are rebranded EX Raids.

• There is a 24-hour wait time, so while the Egg is there, no other Raids can appear at that gym.
• The Elite Raid Boss itself only lasts for 30 minutes, instead of 45 minutes like with regular Raid Bosses.
• The kicker: You can't use Remote Passes. They can only be done in-person, so if your areas is dead with GO players, too bad.

Hoopa Unbound will be its first Elite Raid Boss.

At this point, it's clear that Niantic want to get rid of Remote Passes.

That's bad. Like you should quit playing the game bad.

In a way this is an improvement; with the old EX Raids, the window of time where no other raids would appear on that gym was like 3-4 days (from when invites went out until after the EX Raid happened).

I stopped playing around the beginning of the year (after being a heavily involved player since day 1) and none of the bits of news I see here and there have given me any real desire to pick it up again.

This is what EX raids were before the pandemic, except you had to get lucky to get an ex raid invite post-raid, and had no idea what time it would be until you got the invite.

of course. the city i play in is dead with raids except during the summer i was lucky to get a few 5* raids.

why would they want to get rid of remote raid passes? don't they make a killing on those alone?

Niantic is hell bent on making their game as shitty as possible. I stopped playing about 2 months ago and I'm kind of glad it's behind me.

because they want you to play the game like they want, not like you want.

Because they live in a pretend bubble world where this is still the most played game.

People still play this? I thought those devs took people money and just ran with it.

They seem to think the rest of their country is like it is in SanFran, where they are based out of.

Could also be because they want to collect data from players.

It still makes millions each month.

Niantic been going hard lately trying to get that scan data money. This is the next logical step in that. I can see why the try hard competitive people would be upset by this. Me though, I just play for fun and do what I can. I still think it is a great game despite all of Niantic's greed. Closest thing to a pokemon MMO we are going to get and I get a lot of exercise playing it.

Yeah, thats rough and I expect them to walk it back like they did with Mega Evolutions eventually.

I guess the idea is that theyd be few and far between enough that people would see them when theyre out and about and make a plan to come later, but it honestly worked better with the invitation system EX Raids had because you generally couldnt just go to a closer one and it was harder to get the passes, so people had no incentive to just blow them off.
