I already have noise cancelling Soundcore liberty pro 3 earbuds. I know earbuds and headphones are different things but if I get this headphone, im sure the earbuds would be left collecting dust and be a waste.

Also thinking about waiting for the xm4 to go sub 200 instead of getting the xm5 since its only slightly inferior but it can fold together better.

But the XM5 going on sale for 300 is quite tempting.

Most people seem to say it's not a huge upgrade from the XM4s, I definitely don't think it's worth 100 more.

I'm wearing the XM4's right now and they're amazing. Had them for almost a year and a half now, they've held up great, absolutely worth the buy.

So much better than my old Bose QC35's

EDIT: The multi device support is so useful for me. I have them connected to both my phone and computer, so i can take calls from my phone on the fly from listening to stuff on the PC.

Cool. Yeah I'm gonna hold out on this one then. Hopefully the xm4 goes on sale soon, close to 200 and I'll grab it.

I'd hold out for XM5 or get XM3. XM4 isn't much of an improvement over XM3.

Ive purchased the XM4s and a pair of Sony earbuds from the same person on eBay. The seller is legit and the XM5s were even cheaper ($259) not too long ago.

I have a pair. I'd give them to you if I could. I bought them out of desperation to be able to sleep through the noise of construction but they don't really cancel the noise all that much and its impossible to be in a sleeping position while wearing giant headphones.

Really? The noise cancelling on mine block out about 95% of the noise of the server room at work, and I can take calls in there without issue as well with them.

ANC in general is really good at low-end repetitive sounds. It just might be because the construction where the person lives is high pitched noise like banging against steel with no rhythm.

I have had the wh1000x since 2016 and wh1000xm3 since 2018.
They still work. The xm3 I've dropped a few times on hard tile or concrete too. . Only lame part about them is that the headband can be cracked real easy. Had it happened to my wh1000xm1 when I lifted it off my head too rough lol. The xm1 to xm4 all use the same headband.

. I see the wh1000xm5 uses a new headband so maybe it is no longer a problem

This might be it. I dont know if I'm using the feature right, I keep pressing the button that the instructions say to press in order for the headphone to adjust to the sound of the surrounding but the problem is every time I do the banging and drilling noises stop or they stop in the middle of analyzing the noise pattern. And then they immediately start back up again after its finished analyzing. Really frustrating to be dealing with a 5-6 am
