Was able to resist just playing this on PC 6 months ago and waiting for the Microsoft exclusivity to end. Seems like this has become one of the sleeper hits of 2022.

One part Zelda, one part Dark Souls and one part Fez this game's cute exterior hides quite a challenging game.

I think it starts a bit slow, but once you start getting abilities to traverse the world quickly and really start getting deep into the decoding the manual and using it to solve the mysteries of the world it becomes very fun. Boss fights are AGGRESSIVE, but if for some reason it ever becomes too difficult it has a no fail mode in the options so you can't die. I can safely recommend it to friends and coworkers because of that otherwise I know a few of them who would never get anywhere. You'll get more out of it if you have an appreciation for NES game design and logic and consider the manual as an integral part of the experience. Will avoid saying too much beyond that because it really is a game you should just experience for yourself.

Platinum basically involves finding all the manual pages and secret treasures. Almost all of the other trophies will come en route to that. I was able to solve the Golden Path on my own (and the realization of how to use the Holy Cross was probably the best moment of the entire game) and maybe half of the secret treasures and hidden fairies, but they eventually became too nuts for me to solve or involved subject matters I barely understood (like the wind chime puzzle where you're converting the music notes into cardinal directions).

Luckily the PS5 version made great use of the Activity Cards where it wouldn't give you an answer outright. It would first refer you to a page in the manual for a hint, then it would show you where to go on the map, then as a last resort it showed you the solution to the puzzle. A lot of those I was able to just use the first hint and figure out where to go from there so that was a nice feature.

Definitely check it out if you can I bet we'll be seeing it on a lot of people's top 10's this year.
