Or, the US should give them long range missiles, followed by a very public announcement of "every time you hit civilians, we'll hit a high value military/government target in Russia"

I don't know what it was, but i'm fairly certain a missile can be ruled out
Only seen theories of it being either a boat or truck

It's not completely out of the question, remember when the invasion first started, and guy suicide bombed a bridge.
Though that was more quick decision out of desperation than this

I'm betting one of Putin's supply trucks/tanks/whatever fucked up and exploded on its own and he decided to spin it as the bridge being attacked just to "justify" more murder.
