To be specific I mean FPS campaigns that either were at some point PC exclusive (they don't need to be anymore) and felt like a big deal for the platform on release.

This is what I can think of off the top of my head;

No One Lives Forever 1 and 2
Half-Life
Half-Life 2 and episodes
Painkiller
Serious Sam
F.E.A.R.
Crysis

Those are some big ones and I know I'm missing lots. I'm fine with overlooked games too. I have heard some of the SWAT games are good for example but dunno which ones. 3 I think?

I'm playing through F.E.A.R. at the moment and damn it's still so good.

The concept is so funny though. You play as a paranormal strike team. But the franchise never leaves a single concept and there's nothing about that concept that specifically requires a paranormal strike team. You are there to go around and shoot clones in slow motion. I don't know what specifically about F.E.A.R. makes them ready for paranormal stuff.

Quake 2 had a campaign as well though it's not connected to Quake 1.

Yeah it is, make sure you play through the expansion Extraction Point as well (if you haven't before or are so inclined). Perseus Mandate is kinda eh but it's got a cool new gun at least (grenade launcher)

I recently played Extraction Point to show my 11-year-old nephew what the PC nerds were getting hot and bothered about in 2005 and he commented that the graphics still look good for today. Personally I was more shocked by how amazing that game's soundtrack is, idk what the track is near the end of that expansion but damn it's cool. Some tracks have almost a native american twang to them, maybe it's just me?

Also, unpopular opinion: FEAR 3 is a decent game, arguably better than the second

CoD4:MW will forever be the greatest campaign in the history of FPS games.
