No, not really. Lovecraft was super racist and anti-semetic, and his wife was Jewish. I've met quite a few Caucasian people that spew tons of racist stuff with Asian wives. It's similar to how you can be a misogynist and still married to a woman. Just because you're married doesn't mean you respect them as your equal.

Now I don't think this applies to Bill Burr at all, but it's not a strong defense (not that he's the one using the defense, but whatever).

Indeed. There's no investment needed when someone says "I have friends who are ______". In contrast, if a guy is married to a girl of some ethnicity, not only is he socially obligated to provide for her and raise her children, but he's merging their families and potentially will be continuing both of their bloodlines. If the guy is racist, then that would speak highly of his character if he treats her well and is a good husband.

The women have the potential to earn more, but are paid vastly less upfront. But if you don't get the crowds, the league doesn't grow, you can't realize that potential. % wise, they receive proportionally more, but ultimately are still paid far less.

Anyway, Bill is both right and wrong -- it's only the most hardcore of fans who are supporting in-person contributing to league growth and revenue. I'll watch it when it's on TV, but I'm not going to pay to go see it when the level of competition is utterly, tragically pathetic.

To highlight the above, a game of football here scoring this low is unfathomable. It is genuinely bewildering how an entire team was not able to score a single goal. That has never happened in the history of the game. Their opponents scores a measly 42. To put that into perspective, our football end scores always look similar to a low scoring NBA game -- 70s - low 100s.

This is why I don't support it in person. It's not professional play, it's not entertaining play. It's outright boring for the most part. But that, in turn, makes both me and Bill a part of the problem.

Our governing body for football is insisting on an 18 team competition to match the men, but with the quality of play it can only reasonably support 5 or 6 teams if it wants to become watchable.

Jesus H Christ now I've seen everything. He has 2 lovely kids that he discusses all the time on his 3 podcasts but he keeps a black woman around as a token. This board is on something.

I just wanted to highlight that this reply was honestly so perfectly put, it should have made the users who initiated this absolutely baffling accusation delete their own comments, and log out of gamefaqs on all their devices for at least 2 months. Maybe 3.

The thing I dislike when we are talking about sports is the fact that so many people bitch and moan that athletes "make too much", yet they are the product that people are coming to see.

If the product is creating a billion dollars in revenue, shouldn't those creating that product be entitled to a large amount of that revenue?

I don't think I can understate how big of an investment a marriage is. You may say the guy's intentions are foul, but if he's still upholding his obligations in treating his family well with flying colors, that speaks well of his character. His mind can be changed and he will respect the individual despite the population the person comes from. And it's telling when we live in a culture where liberals have zero tolerance for conservatives when it comes to dating while conservatives tend to be more open minded about dating liberals.

If he's being rude and treating people awfully and flat out embarrassing you, that is definitely a deal breaker. I wouldn't want to date someone who treats people like dirt either. But if he says comments to you privately that you find rude and offensive, why not have a conversation with him about it and engage him on why he feels such a way? Breaking a relationship off with someone over him saying "Oh, why can't more of _____ be like you?" comes off as shallow to me (granted most men don't have an overflowing amount of options so they would be more willing to compromise than break it off). We all have preconceived notions, it takes exposure to new experiences to evolve them.

Case in point, I had a really good buddy back in college who had vendetta against women and certain ethnicities. When I engaged him on why he felt such a way, we came to the conclusion that he was projecting his anger on women from one of his earlier relationships as he hadn't gotten over how it ended (he got kicked out of college due to the shenanigans that took place then). So people who remind him of her get him started. So anytime he says something offensive about them, I just bip him with a blow up hammer and tell him to stop projecting.

I admit, I have more tolerance than most, but this is basic shit, communicating with one another to understand WHY people think a certain way.

The impression I'm getting is that this guy is overly protective of what's his as noted by starting a fight over his lawn and he thinks he's better than everyone else. I can deduce the logic in that. It doesn't have the inherent contradictory nature of someone who looks down on a population but still married into it.

But for a real world example, I will give you that there is a population of Hapas, half White half Asian males who are emotionally abused due to their Asian mothers who have self hatred of their genes and White males who are proud of their genes (to say the least) but go over to Asia to find a wife. And the parents are both disappointed that the kid looks more like the mom than the dad. And it reflects in their treatment and upbringing of the kid.

I don't think this is true at all and I do believe it depends on the conservative and the liberal. A conservative who strongly believes abortion is murder isn't likely to date someone who believes abortion is a choice of body autonomy and is willing to fight for the right to choose.

There are newer polls that reflect the similar sentiment, perhaps to greater degree, but I am feeling lazy at the moment.

As mentioned, it was a variation of that but basically it was "Your family seem to be nice people but they're too hispanic for me and I am not comfortable being around them. Him not accepting or respecting your family is a fine reason to not continue the relationship. Personally I'd be interested in figuring why he thinks lowly of Hispanics but of the course, there's no future, given what I brought up about Hapas above.

Some people can change. I am less harsh than others on CE and generally give people a chance. I provide reason to users that others tell me not to bother with. I tend to give the benefit of doubt more often than not.

That being said.. it's not everyone's place to educate others or give people a chance. Different people have different energy levels. Educating others isn't really any of our jobs. As you mentioned, different people have different tolerances.

Well, there are people out there looking to impose their will on the world and ideals on those around them. If someone doesn't take up the mantle of educating others, someone else will and it will be a concern if you don't agree with what they're teaching.
