Old desk chair piston broke, and the back panel was actively falling off.

currently making do with a 15$ folding chair from walmart but am looking for an actual chair for the future

I don't know the brand but I found a good one at Staples that was like 50% on sale around Christmas time last year.

Gaming chairs are just office chairs with a splash of color, for probably double the cost.

I bought a generic office chair at Sam's Club for less than $100. It's great for holding my ass.
Not great for "naughty deeds time", because it's leather.

so any brands i should look at?

Note, I am in Canada.

Cheap chairs are great for your back

herman miller aeron. it may be really expensive, but they have a 12 year warranty, so you can essentially pro-rate your purchase over 12 years to about 120-150 per year (Canadian).

You buy a $300 chair and it'll probably wear out by the end of year two, if you use it a lot.

okay but i don't have 2 grand to dump on a chair

i am poor

so unless one of you has a spare you don't mind donating to the cause, i'm going with the cheap option for now

EDIT: and before one of you just goes "put it on credit" i don't have a credit card and my credit is so fucking garbage i couldn't qualify for one anyways

Look for Used Office Furniture resellers in your area. Go in person to check it out.

They offer good deals on Office Furniture that has been liquidated by businesses going under.

You can usually find HUGE discounts on slightly used expensive chairs and other major office furniture.

It's also a form of Re-use which is part of the Recycling mantra.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

My rule of thumb is to look for the cheapest one I can find from a major retailer (online stores are fine, just not shit like random eBay sales), and buy one that costs about double that. It's worked very well as a tradeoff so far, without breaking the bank.

Get a cycling desk chair. I wish I did.

i did find a Herman Miller for 600

which is still about 450$ above my budget.

i bought a herman miller for 600 Canadian, with 5 of the 12 years left on the warranty.

i've had it for 2 years now and it is still amazing on the mesh. the one armwrest is a little loose, but thats because the previous user leaned on it a lot. basically i need to replace 1 little plastic clip to make it like-new again

okay, i'll start putting money aside for one, christ. the cheap one from amazon should last long enough

Theres a reason they are basically the only chairs people suggest. If you sit in it for any length of time you dont want cheap crap that will kill your spine. They last forever as well
