This is going to be a tl;dr post so nows your chance to leave the thread if you don't feel like reading. I just want to see how others feel about sharing their headsets.

Story time (or just skip all of this and answer if you want. No big deal.)
So I live in a house that is basically for state park people that want to live a new life.

I sold everything I had to move here and then, over time, bought everything back (and more like a PS5 and such.) I now have a Quest 2 and PSVR1 (bought it to play WipEout in VR because I'm a big fan.)

Anyway, I have a room mate who just moved in a few weeks ago and he talks about using my VR to play a game sometime. He's mostly nice but you can tell he is kind of weird. I hang out with him sometimes because he has no friends but he says weird random shit like for example if I use hand sanitizer on my hands after he passes a controller back to me, he says "Ah, you're a germaphobe huh."

Like you can't just clean your hands without this guy analyzing you and shit lol. Like just shut up and play the game dude.

He's one of those guys that thinks they know more than you about games but they don't. For example he swears that Nier was a PS2 game first. So you say "You're probably thinking of Drakengard." and he says "No, I know what Drakengard is. I'm talking about Nier." And they're just being dumb at that point assuming shit that doesn't exist/isn't true so you just stay quiet because they're in their own world. One of those people.

If he wasnt much of a gamer I would understand that he's wrong and not care because some people don't give a shit about games and that's fine. Theyre bound to be wrong when they think Resident Evil 4 was the 6th one or whatever. They don't game much so they don't commit much to memory.

But this guy - all he does is game. That's his one thing. And he's still wrong about shit. Lol. It's annoying. He will eventually admit that he might be wrong but not before he argues for ten minutes first.

So, anyway, I don't mind playing with this guy but I don't want him to use my VR. Basically ever. I feel that people should just buy their own. And he used to have a PSVR and he sold it. So... Why should that make me share mine with him? I sold mine to live this nature life too. And then I bought one. For me. Not for you.

I'm afraid of the lenses getting scratched. It just doesn't feel brand new anymore if someone else uses it. A controller I don't care and I lend games out too but a vr headset is expensive.

So I guess I'll just have to tell him "Sorry man but I don't let anyone use my headsets because they're expensive."

Kinda sucks because I do want to show people VR games but I don't want them to use my headset and they won't buy their own. Lol.

I even talked about getting a PSVR2 and he said "Yeah it'd be cool to try that if someone would let me. " but then he proceeds to talk about how a Nintendo Switch is all you need and that you don't need power to play games. I do get that but doesn't mean I want to go full nomad either. Dude's also 40 and acts like a child.

But yeah I'm still gonna feel like a dick if I tell him no. He can just buy his own.
I don't even want him to use my PSVR1. Let him use my PSVR2? Fuck no. Lol.
Do any of you share regularly? Have you had any problems?

Also, if any of you are wondering why I chill with this guy at all, it's because he likes to bike ride and he has some of the same favorite games that I do. I've never met anyone that's liked Disgaea before for example. Not my favorite series and I haven't played it since I was a teenager but at least he knows what it is. He loved Gravity Rush. He also knows about obscure games.

So basically he's the only person that I can talk to about them in person. Lol. For now.

Anyway, I wouldnt share headsets personally. Reason being that people use hair products or maybe just have dirty hair that would makes the headset sucky and gross. And like you said they are expensive.

Flip it and reverse it and bust his chops on EVERYTHING he tries to say.

He makes a claim about a game that you know is wrong? Drop everything and google it and be real in your face about it. BOOM ROASTED!!!

He makes a joke about hand sanitizer? "I needed a whole bottle after i banged your mom last night! BOOM ROASTED!!!"

He asks to borrow something? "You can borrow DEEZ NUTZ! BOOM ROASTED!" and take a selfie of you doing an air guitar.

Get his phone number and call him all hours of the night, making 90s Nickelodeon references. The works.
