I just don't understand how we can have a conflict like this where there couldnt be any more of a stark divide between the "good guys" and the "evil empire" and you still have shills saying we need to sympathize with Russia. "But, but, BOTH sides spread propaganda!!". Fuck off with that.

We all know why they invaded, and they range from kidnapping Ukrainians to bolster their falling birthrate, conquering resource-rich land, and trying to weaken the evil "West". The same West that rich Oligarchs love to trade with, go on vacation, and send their kids to school to.

Everything is said for a specific reason. Why are people pointing out that both sides use propaganda? What purpose is it serving? Why do people who pull nitpicky bullshit tend to avoid sharing their personal opinion on whatever issue is being discussed?

Russia is lying to it's country about "de-Nazifying" a friendly, democratic country. Putin has brainwashed his people similar to North Korea and Iran. That's propaganda.

Ukrain is putting a positive spin on news reports and using disinformation to confuse the Orcish invaders in an attempt to win a defensive war. Is that also propaganda?

Can we really compare the two?

NATO was created as an anti-soviet measure. it currently operates, first and foremost, in the interests of the US. the US and Russia are enemies.

Geographically, Russia and Ukraine are right next to each other. NATO therefore has a vested interest in having Ukraine as a member.

one thing I suspected for a while was that Russia largely wanted to ensure that Ukraine could not be a useful ally to NATO. as far as I know, it remains a possibility

As he made clear, numerous times, he never viewed Ukraine as a Sovereign Nation and he made very clear he saw Ukraine as part of Russia.

Also reminder, Russia has a history (even in recent history) to attack and gobble up "Neutral states." and this is why countries that once never had any vested interest in joining Nato are currently re-considering their position. The best advertisement to join Nato. Is Putin.

sure that's legitimate, but NATO is still very much not a neutral party in this. they have a vested interest in having Ukraine as a member

how are you defining "tankie" here? and why would a tankie, in your words, be supporting russia? you are aware that the soviet union doesn't exist anymore, right?

Ukraine is a big boy. If it wants to join NATO, it can. You don't get to invade a sovereign nation and murder tens of thousands of innocent people in an attempt to forcibly assimilate it before it can make decisions you don't like.

Again, Russia has reasons and some twisted sense of logic, but like... fuck their reasons and their feelings.

No shit Ukraine uses PR. PR has been used since before Rome. Ukraine's PR has been fairly accurate. 3rd parties have confirmed it. Russia has suffered enormous causalities.
