So, about your Sunday

Once I saw those lights I rolled my eyes in complete annoyance since I KNEW I've done nothing wrong.

So anyway, I parked in a well-lit area, full of eyewitness, rolled down all of my windows, turned on the interior lights, turned off my truck, had my ID/insurance ready on my right hand with my left steady resting outside with my palm exposed. So far so good, right?

Apparently he says my left brake light was out, and said that he was going to let me go with a warning unless I had any warrants. I was like: Cool. Fair enough.

About five minutes later he comes back and says I have a warrant out for my arrest. I was perplexed and asked for what? He didn't answer and told me to exit my vehicle so that he can place me in handcuffs. At that point, I thought to myself 'Ugh, alright I guess we're really doing this right now.'

He tells me to stretch my arms further back to tighten the cuffs and then walks me towards the front end of his squad car. Asks if I had any weapons or knives, I said 'Yes, concealed carry in front left side.' He was actually more concerned with the phone charger in my pocket than the Glock. Lol

He checked me all over, and didn't find anything else. At this point another squad car pulls up and ho boy, shit got really interesting. Apparently he said I matched names with the guy they're looking for in several states. I asked again what the warrant was, and either they couldn't or wouldn't, but they surely didn't answer me for what.

The other officer starts raising his tone asking what other tats I have (aside from the nonexistent ones I already don't have?), and when the last time I smoked some weed (I don't even smoke cigarettes. Never smoked in my life). I could tell I was getting under his skin because he literally couldn't find anything on me.

They had me resting on the bumper with their LED lights warming my thighs for what seemed to be a half hour, and then the dude who pulled me over explains that there's been a case of a mistaken identity, explained the type of warrant issue I supposedly had, and was red in the face either of anger or embarrassment.

He said I was free to go, and I was like 'I mean, that's great, but it's going to be a challenge driving back with my hands still bounded.' He didn't appreciate that, uncuffed me and told me to stay safe after returning my ID and charger... among other things.

As I got back to my vehicle I asked which light was the one that was out and he goes "Well, it was the top light". I smirked and went 'Okay, I'll check them out first thing' and drove away into the night.

...

That was odd as fuck, but thanks to big God, nothing happened.

they should be checking the middle name too. i always use my middle since there could be other people with my first and last name be the same.

My middle name is also on the ID, and for shit sure asked me what it was.

They also asked me for my height and weight... and sadly for the other dude is either an over/underweight 5' 10" Manlet as he's apparently much shorter than I am. They didn't really go into detail.

Doesn't sound that bad. Mistaken identity happens. I've not gotten jobs over it. Like they literally admitted it was the case and still didn't give me a interview. Just a oops too late now case.

I've been hassled by cops before too though. Wrong place wrong time situations. They give me grief cause I'm bad about updating my I'd when I move. I think the only reason I wasn't arrested one day is cause another cop came across their radios saying they caught the person they where looking for.

It's not always race. Sometimes they just profile you based on how you are dressed. I looked like a misfit

Sounds like you dodged a bullet, and not an environment you'd want to be in anyway.

I look like how I always look. Dressed as a contractor who is working late on Sundays again.

It was decent neighborhood. Just happened to live near a non used warehouse that still had security for whatever reason. Some kids broke in. As said wrong place wrong time. I was walking by on my way back from a friend's house.

The cops in that town harrased teenagers period. We didn't even have a major crime problem outside drug dealing. So I assume the cops where just gung-ho cause they didn't havebmuch going on. Hell had 3 show up when we reported my grandma died.

Its Meat Free Monday at work so probably nothing that great, when the time comes. Its usually some sort of tofu. The rest of the week is better.

Yeah, it all worked out in the end. I feel like I should be more outraged about this, but l literally got the best case scenario out of this... so:

I'm sorry about your grandmother. I only have my maternal grandmother left, but she's living it up traveling the world. She's a tough cookie. Lol.

You know, this was my second or third time I was placed in handcuffs (with all instances being let go) and the thought of how to drink liquids never even occurred to me during any of those times.

Lmao! How often are you that thirsty that it could possibly be an issue.

I see what you mean.

These things can go 12-to-6 from 0-60 at any instant. That's why I gave them no reason to pull that fye on me as I was calm, complacent, and most importantly, cooperative.

Honestly, I think he was just an inexperienced rookie, as I've never seen him patrol this area before. He was certainly fishing, though.

Aye. Thanks, my dude.

Was it bad that my primary concern at the time was that my phone, wallet, and tools were left exposed and that the rains which were coming our way could cause thousands and thousands of dollars worth of damage?

I think it's more about anxiety than actual thirst. The thought of not being able to drink if you need it would overwhelm me probably.

Yeah mistakes happen and that's a pretty tame mistake for a cop.

I've never been pulled over but I do think cops should have special tickets to give you if they are in the wrong or decide to give you a warning. You know to show to work or whatever if it causes you to be late.
