Never grew up with Tekken, so between this and Soul calibur, those were the premier 3D fighting games to me

I had it for original xbox (I think a rerelease version or something. Ultimate? Something like that). Yeah it was really good and I loved a lot of the music.

One of the first games I got for PS2. Loved the fighting engine and countering.

We had DOA2: Hardcore for the PS2. Loved it. Loved how you could unlock new costumes too. Jann Lee was my boy.

Really awesome graphics for 1999/2000. This game came out just barely after RE3 and like... Omicron the Nomad Soul and looks A LOT better. Dreamcast was such a leap.

there is a dead or alive live action movie
its not great
but its still a fun movie and not as bad as most video game movies

also its hilarious that there is a kill bill style sword fight and not a single drop of blood

I spent countless hours playing it.

I even got the Japanese Dreamcast import.

Yeah, it was fun and cool, but also a bit lacking in extras. I still go back to DoA5LR for some casual play every blue moon. Shame Koei Tecmo's greed and some unnecessary changes trying to cater to other fighting game demographics essentially killed DoA6 and the main series for the time being.

DoA series has always been the only fighting series that I loved. The combat is so fluid compared to the clunky combo focus of other games. People seem to hate it on because it is more casual friendly for that reason.

I remember I had a bonus disc from GamePro that included a cheat that unlocked all the outfits. I couldn't believe there were so many, way more than I would've been able to unlock.

To be honest it was less a cheat and more a save with everything unlocked you could load onto your memory card.

I just love the incredible character progression in Dead or Alive

Like take Hitomi

After just becoming an adult she enters the tournament, naive and inexperienced. She doesn't win but the event changes her, she becomes more focused and her skills improve. Upon returning she defeats her Sensai and leaves by herself.

Still young but truly grown, ready for her new life and experiences on the road that lies ahead. Fully independent

https://youtu.be/jVvJ-psnpBMu

Then she dances in her underwear and falls over

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUKUe7Tuy6k

Truly a masterclass of storytelling

Was that the one on Dreamcast?

Combat was shitty, but it's full of tits and asses. Would recommend.

DOA was one of the only fighters I liked to play, even without the T&A. It actually allows for some room for error, unlike say, Street Fighter. (Guess that's why pros hate it though: For even casuals can somewhat fight back.)

And if you are anything like me, with Hitomi being my favorite, you'd then hate what they did to her in DOA 5's story: by letting her make it all the way to 2nd place of the tournament, just to lose to fucking Jann Lee (who I already hated since 2 btw), and he doesn't even appreciate the win.
