Were they?

Relationship wise? Job wise? Educational wise?
Or are you more satisfied with this year, or this day ten years ago?

About the same tbh. 10 years ago I went back to college after dropping out the first time. Not much has changed. I had medical debt instead of student loans. Was single then and now.

about the same. 10 years ago I had more freedom to do whatever I wanted and my mom and bunny was still alive. problem is I lacked money.

now I still dont have that much but at least I have a wife, kids, and possibly a new house when we close.

No. I was 15 and homeschooled and my parents didn't pay for internet so compared to now I barely knew anything about anything. One of the only perks was the additional free time.

No. They were still good though. That was around when I really wanted to get my life shortly after finishing high school.
Now I've got a good job, make money from my art, have recognition for my writing ability, learned how to talk to people well and keep them engaged, learned how to make people laugh, and maintained a solid friend circle from university that we still consistently text and reach out to each other.

Life's good.

Overall no. Back then I was in a happy relationship, and right now I'm single. But every other aspect of my life is an improvement from 10 years ago. Much better job, much better car, and finishing up my degree online. And I'm still actively dating, so... hell I might even improve that part of things soon.

10 years ago I was at least still a participating member of society, insofar studying and having a side-job counts for anything.

Nowadays I am literally living a shell of a life and I hope that changes soon for the better.

Yes. I was largely in the same boat in terms of education and work stuff, but other aspects were exponentially better. My town, for example, was like heaven on earth until the word got out. We have people come from NYC and Boston who comment now that we are massively overpopulated and the population density makes it hard to really enjoy things now.

I also had a lot more hope ten years ago. Home ownership seemed feasible, the workforce seemed less bad, and there just seemed to be more of a point to even try. Now the average price of a house is $750,000 when most people are lucky to earn $35k/year (the landlord needs $30k of that, too).

I was in my last year of college, but I didn't have direction in my life and so was purely at the whims of whatever came in my direction with zero motivation to really commit to anything. Now, I'm still in the midst of transitioning to a career I want to commit my life to. So technically, I would be better off 10 years ago, given the opportunities I had due to my location, but I say I'm better off now given how I have the mindset that would have capitalized off those opportunities and know what I want in life. It does help that I'm also technically considerably wealthier than I was 10 years ago, though had I played my cards right 10 years ago, I could easily match my wealth now far earlier.

Objectively, I was in my second year of University and doing quite well, had a close group of friends. Now I'm long term and unemployed and a lot of those friends don't speak to me anymore.

But subjectively? I am so much happier and more confident.
