I've always enjoyed him since Two Towers and and Doom (lol) and he's been in lots of memorable roles. I do agree he overshoots a bit sometimes, but he's still great to see. I also loved his McCoy in Star Trek as well.

He's been in shit for decades at this point, so it's good to see he's become rather big now.

Idk imo he's always been one of my actor homies. Liam Nesson and Ewan McGregor...all guys who are good actors and put a lot into their roles.

And the reason why people like Dredd is because it's dope. It's like The Raid but slightly more polished with more gun fights instead of hand to hand. That being said, The Raid is still the best of the tower of doom make your way to the top kinda genre of action movies imo

There's the reasons several other people have already stated + the fact that we already had one terrible Dredd movie that the Urban film more than made up for.

And sadly the Stallone version is likely one of the reasons the Urban version flopped. If a comic that isn't popular with the GA gets a movie(a bad one in particular) then they'll base what they know off of that. And sadly Dredd suffered from this. The Stallone film slanted their views. And even when you explain to them that Dredd was a reboot and had nothing to do with it Stallone film, they still just shrug it off.

My thoughts as well - he has just enough emotiveness that seems appropriate for his roles.

Plus I've been curious to see what his character arc becomes in Riddick - he wasn't an outright antagonist.

He was good in Dredd, The Boys, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings.

I had no idea who he was until the Boys.
This

I didn't even recognize he was the gun wielding Asgardian in Thor Ragnarok until after seeing The Boys and googling what else he was in

Honestly, i hated The Raid. I was bored, and kept nodding off. The only part i liked was the fight with the interrogator. Havent watched 2, which I've heard is the superior movie.
